Lower operational costs can lead to fairer prices, better opportunities, and a more welcoming environment for international ventures. Solutions to the Frustrations of Foreign Entrepreneurs in Japan Starting a business in Japan can be tough for foreign entrepreneurs. Language barriers, cultural differences, and complicated regulations can make the process feel overwhelming. But it’s important to know that these challenges aren’t unique to foreigners—Japanese companies face many of the same issues. However, for foreign entrepreneurs, securing visas, understanding regulations, and setting up a business can often feel like an uphill battle. Support Services and Their Limitations Services like TOSBEC are available to help with setting up businesses, handling taxes, and understanding regulations. While useful, many foreign entrepreneurs feel that these services don’t always provide the clear, actionable advice they need. As a result, they may feel stuck, trying to find experts who can help but often not getting the full support they need to succeed. This frustration can lead to a negative mindset, where foreign entrepreneurs start to feel like the odds are stacked against them. Without the right guidance, they might feel discouraged and think that the challenges are just too difficult to overcome. My Experience I’ve personally experienced many of these frustrations. Having started businesses in both the U.S. and Japan, I’ve faced many of the same challenges. When I tried to start a business in the U.S., the Lehman Shock made things even harder. After returning to Japan, I used what I learned abroad to launch an online investment school. While the business grew quickly, I realized that doing business in Japan requires different knowledge and skills. Even with all the information available online, most of it felt too general or not specific enough for my needs as a foreign entrepreneur in Japan. Tools like ChatGPT offered quick answers, but they didn’t go deep enough to solve the bigger challenges I was facing. Helping Others In 2023, I started a business to help foreign entrepreneurs get subsidies and funding in Japan. My goal is to offer services that go beyond just helping with language and cultural differences. I aim to provide practical, customized solutions that address the real problems foreign business owners face here. Bridging the Gap For foreign entrepreneurs to thrive in Japan, they need advisors who truly understand the language, culture, and business environment. Unfortunately, the advice they receive from Japanese consultants often doesn’t match the specific needs of foreigners. Bridging this gap is key to ensuring foreign entrepreneurs get the support they need to succeed. As I continue sharing my experiences, I hope to offer insights that help others avoid the same frustrations I went through. If this resonates with you, I encourage you to follow along as we explore more solutions together. #ForeignEntrepreneursInJapan #BusinessInJapan #Entrepreneurship #JapanMarketEntry #SmallBusinessSupport #Subsidy

In case someone are not aware of this. Finland has had a no-questions asked/no rigorous application process system in place, for more than a decade where the Finnish government are paying entrepreneurs the first 12-18 months an amount of 740 Euro per month to ease life for entrepreneurs during the first year of operation. https://lnkd.in/dA5b6GeA This certainly stands in a stark contrast to what is currently going on in Norway.
