Employee Appreciation Day is 5 days away! (3/1) Count down with me! 5 Reasons I’m celebrating my team this week: 1. When things get tough, the team gets tougher. Challenges? Bring ‘em on! Pivots? We got that! 2. Clear is kind (Thanks Brené for the motto). We’re a high-trust team that give each other the real talk when needed, in the spirit of excellence. 3. Authenticity is embraced. No filter in our game. We represent our true selves and seek to create environments where others can do the same. 4. We rise by lifting others. One team, one dream- we want everyone to win! 5. Courage is currency. No idea is too large or small. We problem solve through curiosity, understanding that some ideas take courage to tackle. What are your 5 reasons to celebrate your team?!

Celebrate your successes. All too often we get bogged down in the day-to-day details of things—pieces of projects we aren’t satisfied with, deadlines that aren’t met, how we could have done things ‘better’. Truly, the minutia of things. But when we stop for a moment, breathe, take a step back, and look at the whole picture, something changes. It’s eye-opening. Seeing all the particulars in place, together, creating something grand. It truly has been a long 9 months getting our #CRR initiative, DRIVE to Thrive, up and going; and keeping it moving along through next year at times sounds daunting. Recently, though, I have had two opportunities to share this city-wide concept with others, from conception to now, from small details to the whole picture. And let me tell you, the rush of endorphins after each of these interactions is amazing. It feels good. No, great. It’s a reflection of all of yourself you pour into your projects, successful or not. It’s freeing, and it’s validating. It’s nothing short of amazing. So take time today, or someday soon, to share what you’re doing. Share with a friend. A co-worker. Me, even! Because let me tell you, it’s awesome (but rare) to celebrate your successes.

It drives individuals to work towards a higher goal and contributes to their overall job satisfaction. Reflect on how you can communicate your organization’s mission and values to your team. Are you helping them see the importance of their contributions? Consider how you can foster a sense of purpose within your team. When team members understand the purpose behind their work, they are more motivated, committed, and engaged. Fostering a sense of purpose benefits both your team and your organization as a whole.
