On October 17, the #NIS2 directive will come into effect, impacting over 180,000 EU businesses across sectors such as healthcare, transport and manufacturing. However, according to new research from @IDC, only 14% of businesses in Western Europe are fully ready for NIS2. What’s also worth highlighting is that 58% of companies within the region report that their boards are not engaged yet on this issue. This indicates there is a clear opportunity for senior leaders to collaborate more closely with CISOs and their teams. NIS2 is not just a compliance exercise – it’s an opportunity to strengthen cybersecurity and business resiliency. Here’s more on how you can get ready for NIS2, as well as the report in full: https://lnkd.in/dAUU7Aq3 #NIS2 #Cybersecurity #Security

Get prepared for NIS2 Directive – the new EU-wide legislation on cybersecurity I need to add: 18 October is not the final compliance deadline for entities subject to Directive (EU) 2022/2555 (‘NIS2’). Based on other EU regulations and directives, the expectation is that entities must fulfill NIS2 no later than 2025. NIS2 applies to a range of entities operating across 11 essential and 7 important sectors. “Network and Information Security Directive (NIS2) is the new European cybersecurity directive that will require organizations to establish a baseline of security measures to mitigate the risk of cyber-attacks and to improve the overall level of cybersecurity in the EU (or those doing business with the EU). Coming into effect in October 2024, it is the most comprehensive legislation yet. Microsoft Security solutions are designed so organizations can better manage security risks, protect against cyberattack, and minimize the impacts of cybersecurity incidents.” #NIS2 #EU #EURegulation #Cybersecurity #NetworkSecurity #InformationSecurity #SecurityCompliance

The recent changes in the European Union’s NIS2 directive highlight the growing importance of cybersecurity governance and its role in safeguarding critical infrastructure. NIS2 expands the scope of organizations required to implement stringent cybersecurity measures and report incidents in a timely manner. This raises an important question: What would a similar framework look like in the Philippines? The Philippine National Cybersecurity Plan (NCSP) 2023-2028 already emphasizes the importance of protecting critical information infrastructure and fostering cybersecurity resilience across sectors. However, there’s still room to strengthen regulatory frameworks and enforcement mechanisms to meet the evolving landscape of cyber threats. If the Philippines were to adopt policies similar to the EU’s NIS2, it could mean: 🔐 Expanding the scope of regulated entities beyond critical infrastructure 🛡️ Strengthening incident reporting requirements and timelines 📢 Promoting greater public-private collaboration on cybersecurity initiatives 📊 Requiring companies to invest in robust cybersecurity governance frameworks With the rapid pace of digital transformation in the Philippines, now is the time to consider how a more comprehensive regulatory approach could protect our national interests and enhance corporate accountability in the digital era. How prepared is your organization to align with such global cybersecurity governance trends? #Cybersecurity #NIS2 #Governance #DigitalTransformation #Philippines #NCSP #Regulation #Resilience
