The Impact of Live Sports on Financial Services Apps : This year, financial service apps such as Angel One, Upstox, and Groww strategically leveraged the IPL platform to enhance their visibility and user engagement. Angel One emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of this IPL season. Its extensive presence as a ground sponsor plus presence across television and digital platforms significantly boosted brand recall. This heightened visibility directly translated into a surge in app downloads, showcasing the power of comprehensive media coverage during high-profile events like the IPL. Upstox and Angel One opted to discontinue their campaigns post-IPL, whereas Groww capitalized on the momentum gained during IPL. Analysis suggests that share of voice (SOV) within the financial services category strongly correlates with app download rates. Groww’s decision to dominate their presence during the World Cup underscored their strategic advantage in driving user acquisition amidst market fluctuations, such as the post-election market dip followed by a gradual recovery. Overall, there are amazing insights into how financial services are building their brands through live sports. Feel free to reach out to my team for further insights into learning across categories post-IPL and the World Cup. #ImpactofLiveSports #FinancialServicesApps
