Last week, I highlighted #Sharjah's visionary commitment to advancing human health and well-being through sustainable food and healthcare initiatives. Today, Sharjah achieves yet another historic milestone—one that celebrates the richness of language and culture. Under the visionary leadership of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, the Historical Dictionary of the Arabic Language has been completed. This groundbreaking project includes an incredible 73,000 entries and over 21.5 million words, making it the most comprehensive linguistic achievement of its kind anywhere in the world. To put this into perspective, global benchmarks like the #Oxford English Dictionary, which took 70 years to compile, and the #Grimm Brothers’ German Dictionary stand as monumental achievements. Yet, Sharjah’s effort surpasses them in scale, ambition, and its profound impact on cultural preservation. This dictionary is more than just a collection of words—it’s a treasure trove that captures the evolution of #Arabic over centuries, ensuring its legacy endures for future generations. It solidifies Sharjah’s position as a global leader in preserving heritage and fostering cultural innovation. In a world often marked by division and uncertainty, leaders like His Highness remind us of the power of vision to bring hope, understanding, and connection across cultures.
