💡𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲. At Creative Therapy, we are continuously moving forward. Currently, we are creating a new gamified tool that assist patients in rehabilitation. And great things have been achieved with the help of students from around the world. 🌍 💪 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁. Students from different countries joined the Blended Mobility Project to develop exciting games for our interactive touchscreen device. By playing these games, users can perform exercises using a pen and improve hand grip. The students successfully designed three new games and turned ideas into reality. These new developments have only been possible with their help. 🧩 🙏 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated students who have made this possible: Nancy (Sarah) Mannaerts , @Zena Praet, Leonardo Andrade, Inês Vilar, Kamilė Gabalytė, @Nicolas Bernard, and Sabina Silvija Žvanskytė. Did you know that playing computer games has positive effects on your health and education? 🎮 In the world of video games, we often hear about the entertainment value, but there's a growing body of evidence highlighting the positive effects of gaming on our cognitive abilities, health, and education. 🧠 Cognitive Enhancement: Research has consistently shown that playing video games can significantly improve various cognitive functions. Whether it's strategic planning, spatial awareness, or quick reflexes, games challenge our brains in ways that enhance problem-solving skills and boost mental agility. For example: 🔸 Puzzle games improve critical thinking and pattern recognition. 🔸 Action games enhance hand-eye coordination and reaction times. 🔸 Strategy games foster planning and resource management skills. 💪 Therapeutic Benefits: Video games are also making strides in the healthcare sector. They're being used as therapeutic tools for people with a variety of medical conditions. From physical rehabilitation to mental health, games offer unique benefits: 🔸 Rehabilitation programs use motion-controlled games to help patients regain motor skills after injuries or surgeries. 🔸 Cognitive therapy games assist those with neurological conditions in maintaining and improving their mental functions. 🔸 Stress relief games provide a distraction and a way to relax, helping people cope with anxiety and depression. 📚 Educational Tools: In education, games are transforming traditional learning methods. They engage students in interactive and enjoyable ways, making complex subjects easier to understand and retain. 🔸 Interactive learning: Games like "Minecraft: Education Edition" allow students to explore and create, reinforcing subjects like mathematics and engineering through hands-on experience. 🔸 Motivational tools: Gamified learning platforms encourage students to achieve and progress by providing immediate feedback and rewards. 🔸 Collaborative skills: Multiplayer games foster teamwork and communication skills among students. The next time someone suggests that video games are just a way to pass the time, remind them of these incredible benefits. From sharpening our minds to aiding in recovery to making education fun, video games are a powerful tool for positive change. For example, when I was in college, I passed my International Economics class thanks to the Capitalism Plus game. 😄 Have you experienced or seen the benefits in health or education? #VideoGames #Education #GameOn #innovation #technology

I had the opportunity to attend the first of several insightful sessions in the SEND Special Interest Group programme, organised by Dr Ania Atkinson. This session, led by Paul Drury explored how video games and VR can engage learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). What stood out was how these tools can enhance focus, foster social interaction, and build problem-solving skills: areas where traditional methods often fall short. This approach not only opens new learning pathways for students who struggle with conventional techniques but also personalises their learning experiences. Imagine a student who finds it difficult to engage with a textbook thriving in a virtual environment, where they interact with historical events, solve real-world problems, or collaborate with peers in a game-based setting. Paul shared a variety of examples including how Pokémon GO proved to be a brilliant example of how technology can promote physical activity, social interaction, and real-world exploration. It allowed SEND learners to experience independence, navigate their surroundings, and interact with peers in ways they may not have done otherwise. It’s fascinating how a simple game made for entertainment can open up new possibilities for engagement and education beyond the classroom! This is just the beginning of a series of talks I’ll be attending monthly, focusing on various innovative strategies to support SEND learners. I’m excited to continue exploring the upcoming talks. Thank you again, Paul Drury, for sharing your expertise! 🎮 #SEND #SpecialEducation #VRinEducation #LearningThroughPlay #InclusiveLearning #EdTech #InnovationInEducation #SENDInclusion #TechForGood #EducationalTechnology #21stCenturyLearning
