Happy #WorldCocktailDay! 🍸 I'm thrilled to celebrate this day to commemorate the first known definition of a cocktail, published in 1806 by the newspaper Balance and Columbian Repository. Cocktails are more than just a drink - they are an experience, a reflection of culture, creativity, and the art of mixology. From the classic Martini to the innovative craft cocktails, each drink tells a story and evokes a unique experience. One of the favourite moments to enjoy a cocktail is the #aperitivo, a tradition deeply rooted in Italian culture. Over 75% of Italians consider it an essential ritual! And it's not just in Italy - the aperitivo is also a cherished moment for French consumers. In fact, around a third of consumers in both countries regularly visit bars and venues for their aperitivo, at least once a month, and some even once or twice a week. The aperitivo tradition continues to thrive, providing a convivial moment for socialising and relaxation. As the aperitivo trend grows, it remains an important aspect of the Italian lifestyle and a cherished ritual for many consumers. It's a pleasure that deserves to be celebrated, especially on World Cocktail Day! 🍹 #Cocktail #FoodAndBeverage #Mixology

A New Chapter 🌿 After months of collaboration and creativity our new menu at Lady Banks Rooftop is finally here. This journey has been about more than just food & drink - it’s been about finding a way to bring people together in a way that feels genuine, relaxed, and unforgettable. There’s something so special about Mediterranean cuisine. It’s not just the flavors (though they’re incredible) - it’s the whole experience. It’s the way a table filled with shareable plates encourages connection. Whether it’s the tang of citrus-marinated Spanner Crab or the richness of Wagyu Intercostal, it’s food that sparks conversation and moments you remember. We wanted to capture that essence of community and joy in every dish we serve. And the cocktails? Well, those have been their own adventure 🍸. We’ve played around with some really bold ideas, balancing fresh, clean flavors with a little bit of indulgence. It’s been about finding drinks that don’t just complement the food but are the focal point of the entire experience - like our Aqua Fresca, which has this light, citrusy kick that feels like summer in a glass. Beyond the food and drinks, we’ve also put a lot of thought into creating the perfect vibe up on the rooftop. Live DJs are all about enhancing that social, joyful atmosphere. Combined with late-night mood lighting it's become more than just a night out - it’s an escape. You can feel the energy in the air, especially when the sunset hits and the views stretch from the city all the way to the Blue Mountains. There’s nothing quite like it. I’m so proud of what we’ve built together. This isn’t just a new menu - it’s a new direction and a reflection of everything we love about hospitality: sharing, connection, and creating moments that matter. If you’ve ever been to Lady Banks, or even if you haven’t, I’d urge you to try it out and pass on your feedback. It's great to know that every comment you make, whether positive or constructive, will be passed on to a team that truly cares about your experience. #NewChapter #MediterraneanTapas #SharingFood #BankstownSportsClub #FoodAndCommunity #DJEntertainment #LadyBanksRooftop #Hospitality

How to Enjoy Sake with Geisha: Understanding What is a Geisha Banquet What is a Geisha Banquet? Enjoy Sake with Geisha to Understand the Manners Today, we will share how to enjoy sake with Geisha at a Ryotei or restaurants (such as Shimakin or Torijaya). Understanding this is very important to know what a Geisha banquet is. First and foremost, Geisha do not eat in front of guests. However, it is common for Geisha to drink alcohol during banquets. The Basic Etiquette at a Geisha Banquet The basic etiquette is that Geisha pour sake for the guests, and it is considered bad manners for guests to pour their own sake. In this way, Geisha pour sake for you, and in return, you can offer them a drink by saying, "Would you like some sake?" This makes the conversation more lively. Additionally, when a Geisha is performing, it is customary to put down your chopsticks and refrain from eating or drinking to enjoy the performance fully. When is the Best Timing to Offer Sake to Geisha? So, when is the best timing to offer sake to Geisha? The optimal time is after the Geisha has performed a dance (known as "Ozashiki wo Tsukeru"). After their performance, the Geisha will sit next to the guests. At this point, you can compliment them by saying, "Your dance was wonderful," or "Your shamisen playing was excellent," and then offer them a drink, such as, "Would you like a beer?" The guests should pour a beer for the Geisha, as Geisha never pour beer for themselves. If you are drinking sake, you can offer sake instead of beer. Another suitable time to offer sake to Geisha is right after they enter the room. Although they will not drink much before their performance, offering them a drink as a greeting can set a positive tone for the banquet. Saying, "I look forward to today. How about a drink (beer) as a greeting?" will please the Geisha and enhance their service throughout the banquet. Please note that any sake you offer to the Geisha will be charged to your bill. Geisha does not drink large amounts of alcohol, so these costs are considered part of the banquet fee. Check out my blog post https://wix.to/FzzoZ7r #newblogpost #geisha #geishagirl #kagurazaka

Nepal’s cocktail culture is undeniably flourishing. Traditionally known for drinking spirits neat, the market is now witnessing a creative renaissance, with bartenders pushing the envelope to craft inventive and delicious cocktails. Ajay Nayyar from Tulleeho had the privilege of judging the Himalayan Bartending Competition in Nepal, an event that illuminated a unique and dynamic side of Nepal’s evolving cocktail scene. His experience was a fascinating blend of tradition and innovation, where talented bartenders and mixologists paid homage to their “culture” while crafting extraordinary drinks. One of the competition’s key challenges was for participants to create a cocktail using Aila, a traditional rice-based spirit deeply rooted in Nepalese culture. (Aila is not yet commercially produced in Nepal, but it can be purchased in Newari restaurants that serve Newa cuisine. CNN has called aila one of the "50 most delicious drinks in the world). The second challenge revolved around incorporating a brand from the William Grants portfolio, one of the event’s co-sponsors and creating a contemporary cocktail. A particularly notable moment was when Rohan Shrestha, the eventual winner, was awarded a cash prize of 50,000 rupees. What made this gesture so significant was that the prize wasn’t handed over by a general manager or CEO but by a municipal collector. This gesture symbolized the local government’s direct involvement and recognition of the burgeoning cocktail scene. It’s clear that Nepal’s cocktail scene is evolving, and with such rich talent and community involvement, it’s only going to grow stronger. #Tulleeho #Nepal #Competition #drinks

Pre and post-pandemic, hospitality venues have always created unique recipes, literally and figuratively, to keep customers coming — and going. The more guests in and out the door in a day almost always means more revenue. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝟑 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: 1. Uncomfortable furniture Clunky, uncomfortable seating can deter diners from overstaying their implied welcome. Think stiff, backless chairs with small seats and chairs closely packed around the table, offering little to no elbow room. A lot of unnecessary distance between your booth seat and the table can also become unpleasant. 2. Fast and loud music Blaring, energetic music has proven to increase drink sales by creating an fun, party atmosphere, especially during Happy Hour. When your vocal cords and eardrums can't compete with the sounds around, it’s easier to drink than hold down an in-depth conversation. 3. Odd-numbered appetizers Everything comes in 3s: 3 tacos. 3 sliders. 3 bao buns, etc. This can be perfect if your appetizer is your main. However, if you want to share evenly, we all know that a fourth comes at an extra cost. What is a selling practice that stood out to you at a restaurant? 🌟 Bars and Drinks Redefined: The New Era of Mixology 🌟 Today's bars are elevating their game by creating immersive experiences that go beyond just offering drinks. Think Ashley Sutton Design Bars, which transport guests to enchanting worlds and stimulate all the senses. In this new age, simple wine lists and international beer brands no longer cut it. Instead, bars are crafting dedicated beer menus featuring local craft beers, narratively rich wines from specific vintages, and eclectic spirits collections. Watch out for rum, which is set to take the spotlight after whisky and gin! Mixology has long been an art, but the demand for creativity doesn't stop there. With stricter alcohol laws and a shift towards healthier lifestyles driven by Gen Z and millennial customers, mocktails and non-alcoholic food pairings are becoming crucial. Make no mistake: faux booze has gone mainstream, making mocktails a year-long trend, not just for 'dry January'. Bars are now innovating beyond traditional recipes, incorporating unique ingredients and presentation styles. Some, like Bar Benfiddich in Tokyo, even offer mixology classes to share their expertise. So, whether you're a job seeker or a hospitality organization, it's crucial to stay ahead of these trends to create unforgettable experiences. 🌍🍹✨ #Hospitality #Mixology #Bars #CraftBeer #Mocktails #HospitalityLife #J1 #H2B #CareerGrowth #Innovation

Pop Quiz: What's the most important element of a great cocktail? A) Flavour Balance B) Aesthetic C) Price Point You're probably thinking, "D) All of the above". But for Hey Caddy the secret sauce to our popular cocktail range is it is 'what the customer wants'. The brains behind the cocktail menus at Hey Caddy and X-Golf Group are all experienced hospitality and mixology veterans, but we're careful not to fall into the trap that lots of cocktail bars do: making cocktails for themselves and other bartenders. We study the trends, ingredients and designs that the country are loving, then distill that into our menu. You won't find esoteric or extremely complex cocktails on our menu, you'll find easy drinking fan favourites that have something for everyone, but are each still expertly crafted. We want to make food and drink that everyone loves. Pushing the known boundaries of flavour can be the inner city speakeasy's job! #heycaddy #hospitalitytrends #mixology #cocktailculture #cocktaildesign
