A New Chapter 🌿 After months of collaboration and creativity our new menu at Lady Banks Rooftop is finally here. This journey has been about more than just food & drink - it’s been about finding a way to bring people together in a way that feels genuine, relaxed, and unforgettable. There’s something so special about Mediterranean cuisine. It’s not just the flavors (though they’re incredible) - it’s the whole experience. It’s the way a table filled with shareable plates encourages connection. Whether it’s the tang of citrus-marinated Spanner Crab or the richness of Wagyu Intercostal, it’s food that sparks conversation and moments you remember. We wanted to capture that essence of community and joy in every dish we serve. And the cocktails? Well, those have been their own adventure 🍸. We’ve played around with some really bold ideas, balancing fresh, clean flavors with a little bit of indulgence. It’s been about finding drinks that don’t just complement the food but are the focal point of the entire experience - like our Aqua Fresca, which has this light, citrusy kick that feels like summer in a glass. Happy #WorldCocktailDay! 🍸 I'm thrilled to celebrate this day to commemorate the first known definition of a cocktail, published in 1806 by the newspaper Balance and Columbian Repository. Cocktails are more than just a drink - they are an experience, a reflection of culture, creativity, and the art of mixology. From the classic Martini to the innovative craft cocktails, each drink tells a story and evokes a unique experience. One of the favourite moments to enjoy a cocktail is the #aperitivo, a tradition deeply rooted in Italian culture. Over 75% of Italians consider it an essential ritual! And it's not just in Italy - the aperitivo is also a cherished moment for French consumers. In fact, around a third of consumers in both countries regularly visit bars and venues for their aperitivo, at least once a month, and some even once or twice a week. The aperitivo tradition continues to thrive, providing a convivial moment for socialising and relaxation. Nepal’s cocktail culture is undeniably flourishing. Traditionally known for drinking spirits neat, the market is now witnessing a creative renaissance, with bartenders pushing the envelope to craft inventive and delicious cocktails. Ajay Nayyar from Tulleeho had the privilege of judging the Himalayan Bartending Competition in Nepal, an event that illuminated a unique and dynamic side of Nepal’s evolving cocktail scene. His experience was a fascinating blend of tradition and innovation, where talented bartenders and mixologists paid homage to their “culture” while crafting extraordinary drinks. One of the competition’s key challenges was for participants to create a cocktail using Aila, a traditional rice-based spirit deeply rooted in Nepalese culture. (Aila is not yet commercially produced in Nepal, but it can be purchased in Newari restaurants that serve Newa cuisine. CNN has called aila one of the "50 most delicious drinks in the world). The second challenge revolved around incorporating a brand from the William Grants portfolio, one of the event’s co-sponsors and creating a contemporary cocktail. A particularly notable moment was when Rohan Shrestha, the eventual winner, was awarded a cash prize of 50,000 rupees. What made this gesture so significant was that the prize wasn’t handed over by a general manager or CEO but by a municipal collector. This gesture symbolized the local government’s direct involvement and recognition of the burgeoning cocktail scene. The brains behind the cocktail menus at Hey Caddy and X-Golf Group are all experienced hospitality and mixology veterans, but we're careful not to fall into the trap that lots of cocktail bars do: making cocktails for themselves and other bartenders. We study the trends, ingredients and designs that the country are loving, then distill that into our menu. You won't find esoteric or extremely complex cocktails on our menu, you'll find easy drinking fan favourites that have something for everyone, but are each still expertly crafted. We want to make food and drink that everyone loves.
