North Carolina's #HBCUs are mobilizing for Nov. 5, tapping an activist history "We stand on the shoulders of giants, and we realize the civic footprint that was left for us. Now, it’s up to us to actually fulfill and keep that same momentum going forward.” #TheNC10 https://lnkd.in/eCdEPYWj

This Black August, we honor the legacy of Angela Davis. As we reflect on the struggle for justice, civil rights, and equality, we pay tribute to Angela Davis—a powerful symbol of resilience, intellect, and activism. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, in 1944, Davis has dedicated her life to challenging oppression and advocating for radical change. Angela Davis’s work, from her involvement with the Communist Party USA and the Black Panther Party to her groundbreaking writings on race, class, and gender, continues to inspire us. Her books, including “Women, Race, & Class” and “Are Prisons Obsolete?”, have been instrumental in shaping discussions on social justice, prison reform, and feminism. At Barred Business, we draw inspiration from Angela Davis’s unwavering commitment to standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity. Her life and work remind us of the power of resistance and the ongoing fight for a more just and equitable world. #AngelaDavis #BlackAugust #Resilience #SocialJustice #CivilRights #Equality #Activism #BarredBusiness #PrisonReform #Abolition #Feminism #RaceClassGender #Inspiration #BlackLiberation #RadicalChange #InspiringChange #CommunityPower #JusticeForAll #StandingStrong #OnwardToJustice

"The Statue of Justice is No Longer Blind" The statue of Lady Justice is traditionally shown with a blindfold, symbolizing impartiality, fairness, and unbiased decisions. However, in today’s reality, this symbol calls for change. Justice should no longer remain blind—it must be aware, conscious, and empathetic toward every situation. As society evolves, the concept of justice must also transform, ensuring that decisions are guided not only by the letter of the law but by the spirit of fairness. True justice today means seeing every truth with open eyes, understanding the struggles of all people, and striving to deliver justice where it’s needed the most. Justice must balance the law with compassion and equality, reflecting what it truly means to be fair. #Justice #Equality #StatueOfJustice #CompassionateLaw #AwakenedJustice

The Million Man March, held on October 16, 1995, in Washington, D.C., was a monumental event that called upon Black men to unite in personal responsibility, justice, and community empowerment. Led by Minister Louis Farrakhan, it gathered nearly a million men with a shared commitment to improving their lives, families, and communities. The March emphasized the power of unity, self-determination, and the importance of addressing societal injustices while taking accountability for the role one plays in uplifting their own communities. Its legacy is a reminder of the strength that comes from collective action, the need to fight systemic inequality, and the necessity of continued progress in the quest for justice, equality, and dignity for all. Key lessons: Unity: There's power in coming together for a common cause. Self-improvement: Lasting change begins with individual growth and accountability. Justice: The fight for equality requires persistence and community mobilization. Legacy: Building a better future is a responsibility we owe to the next generation. #MillionManMarch #UnityAndJustice #CommunityEmpowerment #SelfImprovement #BlackHistory #Equality #SocialChange #LegacyOfStrength

A dedicated anti-racist organization, the Alliance for Rights and Recovery takes dismantling racism seriously inside and outside of our coalition and wider community. Internally, we have reviewed all of our practices, policies, and culture and provide continual training and education for staff and volunteers to equip them with the tools and knowledge they need to effectively combat racism. Externally, we engage in advocacy, activism, and partnership-building that promotes racial equity and justice. In all of our work, we prioritize amplifying the voices of people and communities experiencing marginalization and ensuring they are represented and involved in our decision-making processes. By centering anti-racism, we believe we can eliminate racism in our own practices and community, helping build a more equitable and just society. To learn more, go to https://lnkd.in/eHr69RKX

It takes us to save us. United in our community, we can work towards the liberation of Black people, freeing ourselves from the bondage of systemic injustice—mentally, physically, and spiritually. Liberation is about breaking free from the constraints of inequity that bind us. It’s about uplifting one another and ensuring that every member of our community has the tools they need to thrive. Justice begins with us. It begins with how we treat each other, how we advocate for those who are marginalized, and how we show up for our community. As students, your voice is powerful. You have the opportunity to drive change—through your work, through activism, and through your vote. I, Kyara Ofuani, am running for Justice of the Peace Precinct 7 Place 1 because I believe in a system that works for everyone, not just the few. On November 5, 2024, I ask for your support—not just with your vote but with your continued engagement in this fight for justice. Together, we can ensure that fairness and equality become the cornerstone of our community, starting with Precinct 7. #JusticeForAll #VoteForKyaraOfuani #JPPrecinct7place1 #CommunityFirst #EmpowerChange #YourVoiceMatters #SupportLocalLeadership #CivicEngagement #YourVoteCounts #MakingADifference #LeadershipInAction #JusticeWithIntegrity #Election2024 #TogetherForJustice
