Macmillan Cancer Support have raised concerns about "another missed opportunity to set out specific plans to reduce cancer waiting times in Wales". https://lnkd.in/e9cRG9kj Nobody wants to see delays in cancer treatment, but it's clear that the NHS is under a great deal of pressure from all angles. With a recent study showing shorter treatment times, improved outcomes and lower costs with our technology, we invite Welsh Health Boards to get in touch to see how we can help: https://lnkd.in/ek3X3iNb

Although ~17%-20% of the U.S. population resides in rural areas, only 3% of medical oncologists practice in rural communities, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI). There is an urgent need to improve access to cancer care in these areas. Our ongoing work with American Cancer Society is focused on improving health outcomes in underserved communities, and we’re grateful to advocates like Patrick Dempsey for raising awareness of the need to support patients in rural communities. It shouldn’t matter where you live when you are diagnosed with cancer. Together, we’re working to #CloseTheCareGap and #ChangeTheOdds.
Actor and community advocate Patrick Dempsey spent 17 years by his mother’s side as she lived with cancer. During that time, he noticed the gaps in cancer care, especially in rural areas like his hometown in Maine. Even with improvements in care, the odds of surviving a cancer diagnosis are lower in rural areas of the U.S., where people are more likely to be diagnosed at a later stage and less likely to receive treatment than people in cities. That’s why we’re proud to partner with Patrick in support of “Change the Odds,” an initiative with the American Cancer Society to address cancer disparities and improve health outcomes for underserved communities in the U.S. Help us overcome and shine a spotlight on cancer disparities. Despite advances in care, people living in rural areas of the U.S. face significant barriers to accessing cancer screening and are less likely to receive treatment, compared to those living in cities. Together with actor and cancer community advocate Patrick Dempsey and American Cancer Society, we’re shining a spotlight on the impact of cancer in these communities and the barriers they face in getting screened and navigating care. Cancer doesn’t discriminate – and at Pfizer, we believe that cancer care shouldn’t either. Let’s #ChangeTheOdds against cancer.

We recently hosted an impactful event focused on raising awareness about breast cancer in Čair Municipality. The discussions highlighted the vital role of self-exams and timely mammography as cornerstones of early detection and effective treatment. However, in North Macedonia, we continue to face a significant challenge: the difficulty of securing timely mammogram appointments due to systemic issues. To address this, we arranged 100 free mammography appointments at a private hospital, ensuring that more women have access to potentially life-saving screenings. But our work doesn’t stop here. We remain committed to advocating for changes in the healthcare system to provide timely therapy and a functional screening program for everyone. Together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetection #HealthcareReform #BreastCancerAdvocacy #FightAgainstBreastCancer #BreastCancer

Nearly 4,000 women in the UK lose their lives to ovarian cancer annually. The most agonising statistic? Two-thirds could be saved with timely diagnosis. Consider the story of Anne Shaw from Leeds. She was recently diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer because doctors missed a returning tumour on her scan two years ago. Now, she is holding onto her life with a devastating diagnosis. This situation highlights a critical gap in women's healthcare as many women, like Anne, become victims of ovarian cancer due to unawareness or misdiagnoses. Here at Concise Medico, we stand firmly with women in their fight against ovarian cancer and their right to quality healthcare, especially when negligence can have such dire consequences.
