In the Offshore Wind industry, the size and weight of monopile and turbine components are increasing. How can we install these growing components and still ensure the integrity of the vessel? The solution lies in an integrated design approach that considers both equipment and vessel. At TWD, we conduct global vessel integrity studies, developing both global and local vessel models. These models enable us to streamline the interaction between components, equipment, vessel layout and its integrity throughout various operational phases. By conducting these checks during the vessel design or construction phase, we can optimize equipment design and identify areas where vessel reinforcements may be necessary at an early stage. Adding reinforcements after the vessel is completed is significantly more costly than during vessel construction. Therefore, our proactive approach ensures enough time for cost-efficient modifications to be implemented. Cadeler confirms that it has placed an order to build its third state-of-the-art A-class wind farm installation vessel. This will be the eleventh vessel in Cadeler’s fleet. We have already signed firm contracts and entered a long-term agreement with Ørsted for our first A-class vessel from 2027 to 2030 and we are in advanced contract negotiations to secure capacity from our second A-class.” The P- and A-class vessels are built in close cooperation with Cadeler’s strategic partners, which include GustoMSC, NOV, Kongsberg Maritime, Huisman and MAN Energy Solutions. Potentially the largest offshore wind farm in the US has been given the go-ahead by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), clearing one of the obstacles to development.
