We exist in this reality without having to do anything. Either the members of our family or the people who used to surround us since the moment we were born, are the first examples on how to be part of a life routine.  We learn everything from scratch observing what is around us, we receive an education based on the culture where we were raised in and we think everything reflects the way we were taught to do. Institutions give us knowledge and our crossed paths with others give us a sense of community. What we experience as mistakes give us wisdom and adventures make us marvel. But what if we arrive at one point when we have built everything that we thought we wanted and we fulfilled the desires of the ones we care for and we also took decisions that made us proud of ourselves but then in the end we happen to have a glimpse of deep consciousness and we realize something else. WHAT IF LIVING WAS JUST KILLING TIME is a touching and somehow hydronic way of wasting time, on deciding how to use the time we received as a gift.  As I am doing right now, writing this. And you are doing so, reading it. So, as an artist, I choose to dance this unchangeable imaginary timeline. My will is to waste seconds, minutes and maybe hours honoring movement and the life I was given with it, celebrating the unknown and laughing about it but also mourning it. I consciously take the decision of being present in this eternal dilemma we constantly fill with duties and appointments, avoiding thinking about the purpose of existence. The Sound of Silence: A Timeless Message for Our Times This fall, during physiotherapy in Romania, I experienced a moment of reflection. Unlike in the U.S., European physiotherapy combines electrotherapy, magnetic therapy, and laser therapy to manage pain, promote healing, and reduce inflammation. For 10 days, I had to stay still for over an hour each session as technicians applied these treatments. During this time, the radio played, and quite often, a remix of The Sound of Silence by Disturbed, would fill the room. At first, it was the beat that caught my attention, but as I listened, the lyrics began to resonate deeply with me. Yesterday, as if the universe wanted to remind me of that moment, the song unexpectedly appeared in my YouTube feed. I couldn’t help but take it as a sign—to reflect, to connect, and to share how this song left its mark on me. Originally released by Simon and Garfunkel in 1964, this song’s words are profoundly relevant—perhaps now more so than ever. "People talking without speaking People hearing without listening People writing songs that voices never shared And no one dared disturb the sound of silence" These lines speak of the chaos of our noisy, hyperactive world, where everyone is talking, yet no one is truly listening. Amid the neon lights and relentless chatter, we have grown deaf to the quiet, unifying rhythm that connects us—the heartbeat of our shared humanity, as if we are afraid of it. As thought leaders, creators, and visionaries, we are tapping into the power of silence on a quantum level. In that stillness, we uncover meaning, foster connection, and chart a path forward. Prof Wynand Steyn, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology (EBIT), at the University of Pretoria, chose "Frequency" as the theme of the EBIT concert this year. EBIT collaborated with the University of Pretoria Symphony Orchestras (UPSO) to present the audience with a musical exploration of the frequencies surrounding us. Frequency is more than just a numerical value; it is a universal language that binds the realms of engineering, architecture, and information technology. We should not overlook the significance of frequency, nor the impact of its absence on those who cannot experience it. 🎤 Meet Chen Mizrahi, who helped the music production team at the Nova festival. Here he is in a video as the missiles began to fly, urging everyone to disperse as missiles began to fly. He saved dozens of people but is haunted by the few he couldn't. 💔 Survivors like Chen carry heavy burdens. His bravery saved lives, yet the trauma persists. Let's honor his courage and support his healing journey. ❤️ One unique aspect of the treatments provided by the Israel Healing Initiative is that we equip survivors of terrorism or war with at-home neurostimulation devices. This particular device helps train their nervous systems to calm down, activating the parasympathetic system, enhancing heart rate variability, promoting deeper breathing, and fostering a calmer outlook. Most importantly, they improve sleep. ❤️ When Chen came into our Los Angeles office recently, he didn’t check off “rumination” as one of the symptoms of the trauma he has experienced, but we found evidence of rumination when we looked at his brain functioning in his qEEG. ❤️ When Dr. Orli Peter asked him about this, he said he does ruminate about the people he could have saved. This is something that we have seen in most of the Nova survivors: they don’t see what a hero they were for the people they saved but rather focus on the people they couldn’t save. Dr. Peter was so moved by Chen's challenges that she gave him her vagus nerve stimulator device to take home and keep. ❤️ Heart rate variability (HRV) is the difference in the amount of time between your heartbeats. Unlike the old days, when only heart rate was measured, HRV provides a better predictor of mental and physical health. A flexible heart rate that increases with inhalation and decreases with exhalation is healthier. Normally, stressful thoughts should cause it to increase, while at rest, it should decrease. In trauma, however, the nervous system becomes less flexible and remains in hyperarousal. ❤️ We are honored to help Chen find peace and healing.

🎤 Are you ready for it? 🎤 The Eras Tour hits UK shores this week with Taylor Swift's first show in Edinburgh tomorrow evening. In a new University of Bath School of Management blog post, I explore the economic, social and psychological impact of the Eras Tour. Here are three things you might not know about the impact of the event. 1) 💷 The Eras Tour has provided a boon to every economy it has visited, with some estimates that the UK leg of the tour will boost UK spending by up to £1 billion. This will also provide a much-needed boost to the UK’s music scene, which was decimated by the Covid-19 pandemic. 2) 🎶 Our previous research, published in Nature Human Behaviour (https://lnkd.in/gVabnwfJ), examined five secular mass gatherings in the UK and US – including Burning Man and Latitude festivals – and found that people often came away feeling ‘transformed’. The study demonstrated that these transformations also impacted people’s prosocial or helping behaviour. People returned from the events feeling more generous and connected to wider society – and these changes lasted for many months. 3) 🤝 My upcoming paper in Political Psychology (https://lnkd.in/grzGvS-P) demonstrates that ‘identity-centring events’ can provide a sense of reinvigoration and rejuvenation for marginalised groups. Being surrounded by people with similar interests and values – for example, fans being surrounded by fellow Swifties – can be important avenues for reducing burnout and improving mental health. More resources are a double-edged sword. Talent is context dependent. Clarity is everything. I picked up this record recently, and these two amazing musicians demonstrate this point on every Rag in this performance. I "dropped the needle" on my favorite performance so you can start your Friday out right! Ravi Shankar was one of the world's most beloved musicians and well-known sitar players. More well-known in Indian communities, Ali Akbar Khan was a masterful sarod player (a sarod is similar to a banjo in construction but has a more diverse timbral palette). The tabla is performed by Alla Rakha. Why is this performance so stellar? Because all the musicians are clear on which notes to play (and which ones to gracefully avoid). They know the divisions of the Raga and they know larger grouping conventions like the tehai to which this piece culminates. Like wizards, they take these conventions, these incantations of all past performances, and use them as a starting point for their own collective and creative expression. Most of this performance is improvised, with the exception of the main melody. I sincerely doubt that much of this music was worked out ahead of time. What I take with me from this into my own work are the following points: 1. Be clear on what I need to bring to the group; 2. Know when to bring it to the group; 3.
