"I would sit by water and write novels."
That's my answer, when posed the question of what I would do if I didn't have to worry about the "day job."
This is the first year in a few that I'm not launching a new novel in March/April.
Which is sad for me... But, it's okay because it's a result of Momentum - The Business Growth Agency going well.
I have one en route though. More to come on that soon.
And, believe me, I have a good 8-10 novel ideas ready to go behind it, for when the day comes that I don't have that twinge of guilt that I should be doing something else.
For now, though, people ask me how I find the time to write.
My answer is always the same... "I don't find time to write. I MAKE time to write."
I've found it essential to block time off to do it.
See... While PUBLISHING a book is a business, writing a book offers the sheer joy of the creative process.
I find when I'm writing, and I can get into a good flow over a period of time, I find that everything I do for my business gets better and stronger.
I always enjoy talking with professionals who are very busy with their "real job," but are able to build that enriching creative process into their lives, as well.
🔨 Damon Piatek, my good friend (and client) does woodworking. Started out as a hobby in his garage, but now he's making everything from custom pens to cutting boards to tables, people are wanting them (and buying them), and he recently had his work featured in an art exhibit in downtown Buffalo. I work every day with Damon. He's a busy dude, running two companies. But he makes the time, because he knows it's important.
(Sorry, Damon... The only good "woodworking" emojis were a hammer or a coffin. I went with the hammer)
🎸 Dean J. Gionis is another colleague I'm so impressed with. His day job is with Compliance Team, where he does business development. At night, though, the guitar comes out, and Dean is the front man for Hot Club of Buffalo. I have used Dean's band for a slew of events, because his stuff is perfect for networking... Light, but with energy, recognizable, and in the background enough that you're not trying to talk over the music. Niagara USA Chamber of Commerce just booked Hot Club for our Gala Awards Dinner in May. I love working with Dean. He "gets" this balance - AND the intersection between the two worlds he serves.
📷 Two weeks ago, at a SOUTH WEST REGIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE event, I had the great opportunity to meet Brittany Remington, who works full time for New Directions Mental Health in Pittsburgh. Last year, Brittany started her own company, The Wow Booth Co., a photo booth provider for events throughout western PA. Fantastic product/service with AI and green screen capabilities - and I thought her story was so cool, I've already referred The Wow Booth to multiple orgs for their events.
I love hearing these stories.
Tell me more of them!
What's your passion outside of your "day job," and how do you MAKE time to enjoy it?!
My "Memories" on that OTHER site say that last year, I was getting ready for my novel launch today.
That's always so exciting.
Despite the fact that I'm all into AI now, which is what 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗚𝗡 is about (a few years early), 𝗝𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗘𝗬 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗣𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧𝗦 is still my favorite I've written.
This is the first year in a few that I'm not launching a new book in March/April.
But, I've got one in the hopper, that I think you're going to like.
More to come.....

6moAnd for marketing/machine learning: Dr. Eric Siegel's "Predictive Analytics: The Power to Predict Who Will Click, Buy, Lie, or Die" https://a.co/d/2IN3VMF is a fantastic read, suitable for the general business public. He's got another book out on actually deploying AI machine learning: "The AI Playbook: Mastering the Rare Art of Machine Learning Deployment (Management on the Cutting Edge)" https://a.co/d/hTcmlcB which is on my summer reading list as well. Tagging Eric Siegel so he sees his fan club is alive and well on the West Coast :)
