A group of experts from CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute went to Wanguo Mining to carry out training on applying geophysical exploration technology for hidden disaster prevention in metal mines. More than 40 people from local #mine safety supervision departments and mine managers participated. Before the exchange meeting, the technical staff of CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute conducted a practical demonstration of mine transient electromagnetic detection underground. It explained in detail the operation process of the equipment in hidden disaster prevention and blind mine body exploration in mines, showing its application value in actual work. At the exchange meeting, a team of experts from CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute reported on applying relevant geophysical exploration technologies in metal mines. Core Drilling Exercise in Wase Local Government for Lead/Zinc Mineralization. In Wase Local Government, a comprehensive core drilling exercise was undertaken to evaluate the lead/zinc mineralization potential in the area. The drilling campaign followed extensive geological, geochemical, and geophysical explorations, which included induced polarization (IP) and electromagnetic (EM) surveys. Before drilling, the area underwent detailed geochemical sampling and analysis, revealing anomalous concentrations of lead and zinc. Geophysical techniques, including induced polarization (IP) and electromagnetic (EM) surveys, were employed to delineate subsurface anomalies indicative of sulfide mineralization. Geological Setting: The target area lies within the Middle Benue Trough characterized by sedimentary formations which include the Sandstone, Siltstone and Shale with significant quartz intrusions. The geophysical surveys identified the presence of these quartz veins as potential hosts for lead/zinc mineralization, which warranted further investigation through drilling. Core Logging: The core samples obtained from the drilling were meticulously logged. Around 24 meters, distinct quartz intrusions within the shale were observed, indicating significant hydrothermal activity. This zone showed good prospects for lead/zinc mineralization. Mineralization: The quartz veins hosted minor sulfide minerals, primarily galena (lead sulfide) and sphalerite (zinc sulfide).
