Thank you to the Microsoft Security and #microsoftpurview teams for their recent article of theirs where they share this: "By 2027, Gartner predicts at least one global company will have an AI deployment banned by a regulator for not complying with data protection or AI governance legislation." I know AI is exciting and features are oozing from every app out there, but have you sat down to examine the impact it will have on your data? I have. I do. I am. Ask me what it means for your Microsoft Power Platform or Microsoft Dynamics 365 apps and solutions. #dataverse #dynamicscrm #dynamics365 #dynamics #d365 #d365ce #powerapps #powerplatform #copilot #generativeai #mvpbuzz Own Company

How does Microsoft #Copilot for Microsoft #365 work? Users interact with Copilot for Microsoft 365 through its chat interface. Here's how the interaction between a user and Copilot looks like: Copilot receives an input prompt from a user. Copilot then preprocesses the input prompt through an approach called grounding, which improves the specificity of the prompt, to help you get answers that are relevant and actionable to your specific task. The prompt can include text from input files or other content discovered by Copilot, and Copilot sends this prompt to the LLM for processing. Copilot only accesses data that an individual user has existing access to, based on, for example, existing Microsoft 365 role-based access controls. Copilot takes the response from the LLM and post-processes it. This post-processing includes other grounding calls to Microsoft Graph, responsible AI checks, security, compliance and privacy reviews, and command generation. Copilot returns the response to the app, where the user can review and assess the response. Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft 365 iteratively processes and orchestrates these sophisticated services to help produce results that are relevant to your organization because they're contextually based on your organizational data. To manage the overhead and risks of adopting Microsoft Copilot, organizations need a solution to address: • DATA INVENTORY: It’s critical to know your data - what’s sensitive, regulated, critical; what data is fit for consumption by LLMs and external parties, and what data is confidential? • DATA GOVERNANCE: Proper labeling and tagging of data are crucial to prevent unauthorized access and ensure compliance. • ACCESS CONTROL: Overexposed data and overprivileged users present significant risks, especially in the context of AI-driven tools like Copilot. • DATA MINIMIZATION: Duplicate, similar, and redundant data represent unnecessary risk. Delete, move, and lock down data to reduce storage costs and the attack surface. Holler!
