📢 RootCamp is thrilled to announce the Bioeconomy Deep Dive series, funded by Rentenbank and commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Food and Agriculture (BMEL). Diminishing resources, climate variability, and evolving customer demands create transformational pressure toward bioeconomy. This dynamic leads to a level of change that cannot be managed through bilateral interaction, as it affects various stakeholders in the value chain. New ways of communication, collaborative engagement, and the implementation of startup innovations are key. 🌿 With our Bioeconomy Deep Dives format, we will use the upcoming two years to identify transformational hurdles, pinpoint opportunities, and assess inefficiencies. At innovation gaps, startup solutions are matched with stakeholders, paving the way for the transformation toward a competitive bioeconomy. In our first prototype, we successfully mapped the #peaprotein value chain with many stakeholders, identified innovation gaps, and proposed solutions for starch valorization and functionalization. On May 22 and 23, we had the honor of welcoming the world’s brightest minds in agrifoodtech in person and online for the 9th F&A Next Summit.   🌍 The F&A Community connected with a total of 857 leading startups, scale-ups, investors, corporates and other agrifoodtech enthusiasts from 36 countries spread over 5 continents.   👍 Our summit has been well received and was awarded a visitors’ rating of 8.3 out of 10.   🏆 At the closing of the summit, Jord BioScience was crowned winner of the Feike Sijbesma Sustainable Innovation Award 2024, which includes a €25,000 grant prize. This prestigious award recognizes Jord BioScience’s innovative microbial technologies enhancing crop productivity. 👉 This week, I spent several days at Paris’ agriculture fair. A lot of interesting talks. I was also invited by La Ferme Digitale to share my views on the latest VC trends in AgriFoodTech with Arnaud Rey. Traditionally, Paris’ agriculture fair is quite a political event and the 2024 edition is palpably tense⚡with farmers protesting across Europe, calling for better income and less bureaucracy.   For centuries, innovation 💡has been key for agriculture to address the new challenges imposed by society. As such, disruptive technologies (biotech, robotics, precision Ag…) are parts of the equation for higher competitiveness and greater sustainability ♻️ in the AgriFood value chain. And here is the good news 📢📢: Year after year, I have seen the number of innovative startups exhibiting at the event gradually growing 🚀🚀! Thanks to the French ecosystem 💪 of R&D centers, Ag schools, La French Tech and La Ferme Digitale. 👉 We start seeing results of massive investments in AgriFood Tech and we shall continue 🙏 🙏 ! Our value chain focuses on several key elements that significantly enhance the #SupplyChain. By reducing input costs, we make sustainable practices more accessible to farmers, while better yields ensure food security and profitability. Proximity to consumers fosters direct relationships, enabling faster delivery and fresher produce. Additionally, our commitment to data collection allows for continuous improvement, ensuring that we can adapt to changing conditions and consumer needs, ultimately leading to a more efficient and responsive supply chain. 🚚 It was an incredible experience to work with such a passionate and dedicated team. A big thank you to all the organizers and mentors who supported us throughout this challenge. This project has reinforced my belief that innovation can transform agriculture and improve our impact on the environment.
