Having a building permit is one thing, but something to pay attention to and that we run into frequently is a building permit in hand without final utility designs approved. This can often create delays in the schedule if not coordinated correctly. Keep an eye on utility coordination as you move towards starting construction as often times that utility work impacts the critical path early on in the project and can bring it to a screeching stop. This is one of the main points we like to address in preconstruction because a delayed schedule is not good for anyone! _______________________________________________________________________________ Shaneec@consolidatedcontracting.com 949-324-3424 #commercialconstruction #utilitycoordination #preconstruction #constructionscheduling

Utilities below horizontal and vertical construction refer to the infrastructure services such as water, sewage, electricity, gas, and telecommunications that are installed beneath the ground or within buildings. The importance of utility installation below horizontal and vertical construction includes: 1. Safety: Buried utilities protect people and vehicles from potential hazards like electrical shocks or gas leaks. 2. Aesthetics: Underground utilities maintain the visual appeal of buildings and landscapes, free from clutter and obstructions. 3. Reliability: Below-ground utilities are less prone to damage from weather, accidents, or vandalism, ensuring consistent service delivery. 4. Space efficiency: Installing utilities below ground or within building structures maximizes space for other uses. 5. Environmental benefits: Underground utilities can reduce environmental impacts by minimizing visual pollution and preserving natural habitats. 6. Cost savings: Installing utilities during construction can reduce costs compared to retrofitting or relocating them later. 7. Enhanced property value: Proper utility installation can increase property values and appeal. By installing utilities below horizontal and vertical construction, we can ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of essential services while preserving the environment and enhancing urban spaces.

As I meet with clients throughout the UK, both new and old, there is a common thread in the problems they face. No matter where you are in the UK, as a Strategic Land or Housing Developer, I'm sure you know all too well the headaches that come with dealing with utilities. It can make or break the viability of a site. There's so much to consider, available capacity, network reinforcements, points of connection, diversion of overhead lines and underground cables/pipes, then there's costs, and risks. Then there’s design approval, network adoption, asset values. Given the UK’s network issues, if you're considering a potential new site, utility infrastructure assessments are critical. We can assist with a quick and affordable baseline utilities report tailored to that location. It'll give you a good idea of what you're getting into, so you can make informed decisions about the site's viability. And if you're already further down the line, we can assist with more detailed Preliminary Utility Assessments that can help smooth out the planning process. But that's not all Tetra Tech has to offer, we have a wide range of services: Planners and Urban Designers Project and cost management Transportation Asset Management NALO (Noise, Air, Light and Odour) Environmental Impact Assessment Civil, Structural and Mechanical Engineering Flood risk. A lot of work in Civil revolves around creating robust infrastructure that can support the surrounding assets to achieve their purpose 🧱 This particular structure is a key component in a turbine station, where water will flow through and generate sustainable and clean energy that is then transported back to the grid. Albeit a simplified explanation - it just goes to show the diverse impact that civil construction has on the community and society at large. Civil Construction, done right. #civilconstruction #civilengineering #sustainableenergy #cleanpower
