🌍✨ GRANULAR - Giving rural actors novel data and re-useable tools to lead public action in rural areas General Assembly Meeting - November 2024 ✨🌍 On 🗓️ November 19th, 2024, the GRANULAR research project, supported by the HORIZON EUROPE program, held its General Assembly online. More than 40 participants joined, including PREPARE representatives, alongside 22 partner organizations from across Europe. 🌟 📊 Together, we’re working to develop new datasets, tools, and methods to better understand rural areas. By gaining insights into their characteristics, dynamics, and drivers of change, GRANULAR will support the creation of tailor-made, place-based policies. 💻 During the meeting, partners: 🔹 Shared updates on progress and key outputs 🔹 Focused on operationalizing data, tools, and methods at EU and local levels 🔹 Planned the next steps for replication and dissemination of results 🔹 Strengthened collaboration across work packages 🚀 Significant progress has been achieved since the project began, but challenges remain as we move forward in the next two years. The session concluded with the Annual Knowledge Exchange Meeting in the afternoon, fostering valuable discussions and knowledge sharing. Together, we’re shaping the future of rural areas! 🌾🌟

DATAMITE at the International Scientific Conference on e-Governance and e-Communications (EGEC) 🚀. Our legal consortium partner, the Law and Internet Foundation, presented the paper "The importance of the data management plan in EU-funded research and innovation projects" in the session "E-Governance & E-Government". Co-authored by Prof. Daniela Ilieva, PhD and Polina Petrova, the paper, which begins by looking at EU-funded research and innovation projects from a broader perspective, delves into the specificities of data management schemes, explaining their important role and giving the example of DATAMITE, a Horizon Europe project funded by the European Commission. #EGEC #LIF #DataManagement #HorizonEurope #DATAMITE

In June the CESSDA Conference Science Day 2024 took place in Split, Croatia. The conference featured compelling sessions and discussions on current challenges in social science data collection including preserving #data during crises and enhancing #metadata interoperability. Kickstarted the day at dark 0400 to hear NetHope Africa talking, listen to the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR)'s webinar re "Data Management Essentials for Health Professionals," and participate in the first session of NetHope's "Creativity & Innovation" course. Global collaboration makes for long days, but it generates an energy of its own and the world benefits when we come and learn together.

At yesterday's United Nations General Assembly Science Summit, #PEER2PEER collaborator Abubakarr Mansaray presented on Hurdles to International Science Cooperation: Data Sharing and Management. He discussed the vision, goals, and objectives of the PEER2PEER program, as well as the modern issues related to transboundary data sharing.
