Philip Turner, Director at AHMM, spoke to Architects’ Journal about our recent project One Berkeley Street, for their #RetroFirst series. Read more via the below link. This 19,500m² mixed-use development in Mayfair, for Crosstree Real Estate Partners LLP, retains 90% of the existing frame and facade and uses the same UK brick that was specified in 1974 for the Berkeley Street elevations. Additionally, all office areas use reclaimed floor tiles, and were delivered to ‘shell and floor’ to reduce Category A waste during fit-out. Sounds like Philip Turner and the AHMM team are really sticking their necks out for sustainability with One Berkeley Street, doesn't it? Recycling 90% of a building and still making it look posh? Now that's no small feat—proper impressive! With all these reclaimed materials, do you find that it adds a certain character to the space that you wouldn't get with all-new materials?
