Congrats to the Planted team - especially to Pascal Bieri Marion Höchli et. al. for the growth and innovation development - really love the steak and had it already now several times. Well done! As Dr. Daniel Michael Böhi said: keeping the fingers crossed for a sustainable financial growth! And as I've learned at the #Ideenfutter of Foodhub NRW last week from Fabio Ziemssen: as plant based alternatives become more and more similiar to animal based products, it could be that we do not need anymore cultimated meat (in terms: is an investment really worth it and when will EFSA allow it?). But therefor we need much more growth - actually in Germany plant based is still only at 1.3% market share of the total meat market. Hopefully that will change rapidly in the future - and with the planted steak that is equal or already lower in price to beef at the meat counter at Edeka (€ 2.80/100 g planted vs. € 3.30/100 g for rumpsteaks) I hope the change in consumer consumption will speed up. Because then we will succeed with the (r)evolution of the food system.
Keeping fingers crossed the growth is healthy and sustainable from an economic/financial point of view! It would be great to see a plant based player really scale successfully, too many, especially big ones, simply don’t make it. So, go Planted!
That´s awesome!
