During October one of our colleagues Justin Foote completed an impressive challenge, walking 188 miles (7.2 marathons) in support of Prostate Cancer UK, raising more than £3000. This isn't the first challenge that Justin has completed for the charity. He has taken part in 13 events and raised more than £27,000 since September 2019. Justin said, "One of the highlights of my latest challenge was on 24th October 2024, when I completed a walk starting at the New Everton Stadium at Bramley Moore Dock to Anfield in memory of Ray Clemence (Liverpool & England Goalkeeper) who unfortunately passed away from this awful disease. From Anfield we continued to Goodison Park for pitch side photos, then finished back at Bramley Moore Dock." What an amazing achievement for the charity. Well done Justin. Prostate cancer in numbers: • Prostate Cancer is the most common cancer in men, more than 52,000 men are diagnosed with Prostate Cancer every year on average – that's 144 men every day. • 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in their lifetime. • And the risk is even higher if you're black, with 1 in 4 men being diagnosed. • Around 490,000 men are living with and after Prostate Cancer. • It manly affects those over 50 and your risk increases with age. • One man dies every 45 minutes of Prostate Cancer. The earlier you find prostate cancer, the easier it is to treat so if you have any concerns contact your GP.
