Founder & CEO Senken | Expert in Carbon Markets and Corporate Sustainability | Driving Net-Zero Goals & Climate Action Investment

Africa will be THE location to be for climate entrepreneurs. The African market offers the most significant opportunities to build a climate startup. The opportunities are unlimited. On my numerous trips through Africa, I've encountered some of the most ingenious people in my life. From people finding new ways to grow sea kelp to finding solutions to the struggle of non-existing grid infrastructure. In light of today's The Earthshot Prize, which is happening right next to my home in South Africa, I want to shed some light on the companies and entrepreneurs in Africa. There is an exhibition at the Cape Town promenade if you have time to visit :-) It must be a cruel joke that the US election and the Earthshot prize award ceremony are held on the same day. Hoping to see more and more projects that Senken supports amongst the Eartshot price winners!! So let's look at the silver linings --> give an African climate tech entrepreneur a shoutout in the comments! 💚 Companies of the exhibition: Africa Collect Textiles CLAWS Conservancy Solar Sister E-Safiri - Driving Africa’s transition to sustainable transport Ujamaa Community Resource Team Bekia inc Mobility for Africa eBee.africa Rethread Africa Safi Organics Ltd. This is great, Adrian!

I am CEO of Carbon Alert BV, we have the possibility to use BiCRS to burry Biomass in the soil. The story is that our Earth stores the carbon sinds 200.000 years in the soil via woods and plants creating peat and burry it. We, Carbon Alert have laboratories where we create C4 Gras based plants that grow at the equator. We capture the plant every 2 month, and cut it pieces. These biomass is then buried underground where there is no oxygen present. The extreme low output of CO2, which in some positions may come via streaming water is directly gathered by the roots of the overlying plants. Out of calculations where CO2 and Methane is included the resting carbon in the artificial peat at minus 1.2 meter is 95 % over 500 or 1000 years by continuing the burrying proces. The overall cost of capturing and storage lies far under $50 per ton, so this is comparative with all other capturing and storage systems. When we have reached the complete negative Carbon Output of our world (100 million Hectare), which coud be 2045 if we go for it, the extra biomass is capable for other energies. Bio Ethanol can be produced at about 7500 liter per hectare per year. Bio Gas can be produced at about 75.000 m^3 per hectare per year.
