I am really looking forward to presenting at the Walker Wayland Australasia Limited about leveraging your businesses greatest asset... your people. It is the trickiest time in history to manage the numerous pressing concerns that businesses have, particularly when it comes to managing people - even just considering the rise of psychosocial regulation and the huge changes in work expectations from one generation to another (to name a couple of things). There is a lot of fear around pushing people to perform better, frustration about how to communicate effectively and impatience with not seeing immediate results. From my perspective, the best businesses that I have worked with have a clear focus on having high performing people, and supporting those people to achieve their best. These businesses all have a few key things in place. 1. Having a clear strategy for the business, that includes people and performance within it. 2. Clear consultation and effective communication of that strategy. 3. Distributed accountability for the outcomes of the plan being accomplished. 4. Simple and clear structures and systems to plan, monitor and review progress at all levels. 5. and perhaps the most important, strong leadership and the willingness to try things. There is a lot to consider in each of these - but the fact of the matter is, that high performing people who are supported to reach their potential, create high performing businesses.
