Tuesday I attended a CS in Focus event featuring a debate about Customer Health Scores. We’ve done quite a bit of work with Customer Success teams - primarily with #HubSpot Service Hub solutions and onboarding flows. At the event I got the chance to learn from Customer Success leaders about the issues in their field. 𝐂𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 There was a healthy debate about whether assigning a score to a customer is helpful or not. The idea is to have a metric that indicates whether they are in good shape or likely to churn. Inputs into this score can include product usage, qualitative input from reps, ticket volume, email engagement, and more. The discussion reminded me of the debate around lead scoring: it’s hard to align on the criteria, it can get overcomplicated fast, and companies want to base a lot of decisions and processes on this score. The consensus was to focus on simplicity and utility when developing a Heath Score. Then implement, evaluate, and iterate the criteria.
