WEEKEND READ  2024 has been a year of action for Building 4.0 CRC, as we focused on tackling the big issues – increasing housing supply, improving sustainability and growing industry capacity through skills and education: - We launched another 14 projects, including our most significant research project – a research and development project with Homes NSW that leverages modern methods of construction to build more quality social housing faster and more efficiently. - 23 exhibitors at our Housing Innovation Showcase in June highlighted new materials, designs, products, processes, platforms and technologies that accelerate construction timelines, enhance safety and improve sustainability outcomes.  - The third Annual Conference – Making it Happen – brought together 8 international speakers, 18 expert panellists and 230 delegates who explored the industry’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. Breaking news: the Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility (AMRF) First Building was named the Most Outstanding Innovation Project by the Western Sydney Leadership Dialogue last night, setting the stage for a story that will reshape Australia's urban future. The first building for the new city of Bradfield in Western Sydney — Australia's first new city in 100 years — the AMRF houses a cutting-edge shared services platform designed to drive innovation in the manufacturing sector. This facility represents a pivotal step in the NSW Government's economic strategy, positioning Bradfield as a hub of advanced industry and opportunity. Congratulations to our client, Bradfield Development Authority, project partners Northrop Consulting Engineers and Taylor | Australia, and our talented design team. The development of Bradfield City Centre, alongside the Western Sydney Aerotropolis region and Western Sydney International Airport, is set to redefine the region. I’m looking forward to participating in this panel discussion at Building Nations 2024 (which I understand has sold out!). I’ve spoken previously about the importance of community resilience and infrastructure resilience, and there are plenty of examples of that in our Kainga Ora large scale projects. In my mind, infrastructure-led development is so much more than just physical construction. Long after the roads and pipes are installed, our legacy will be how people feel and connect with each other in the places they live and work.
