Scotland's International Cultural Strategy must, by now, be taking some shape. Three wishes: -that it has involved consultation with a good range of actual and potential international partners and agencies; -that it provides resources for participation in the wide range of transnational networks and initiatives in which Scotland should be active; -that it doesn’t attempt to conflate the needs of the cultural and creative industries sectors into one delivery mechanism.

I enjoy exploring different views and contexts on current and historical events. I believe it's important to see situations from different angles to understand the broader implications. It doesn't mean that I value all information equally, but even the most grotesque of lies usually contain a grain of truth. Maybe not factual but perhaps that of intention. I saw this video a couple of days ago and it made me rethink on how we perceive history. For full disclosure I have not researched much into the accuracy of this video so there might be incorrect information here and there, but it did at least give me pause to reflect. "Eastern Europe is not real" by the YouTube:r Kraut brings up on how former empires shape our generalisation of countries within a geographic area that contain vastly different cultural backgrounds. While this may not be new, it does have a direct implication on current events. I want to share this video with you in the hopes of broadening the general discussion on how we see current conflicts and to give you a opportunity to reflect how we perceive the world. The European Heritage Days are the most widely celebrated participatory cultural event shared by the people of Europe. The Council of Europe launched the initiative in 1985, and in 1999 was joined by the European Union to create the joint action, which has continued up to the present day. Conceivably, the Programme, which can boast up to 20 million visitors every year, generates the greatest value, Euro for Euro, of any “European” cultural project. Held in September each year, EHD events – often called Heritage Open Days - take place in the countries party to the European Cultural Convention. The aims of the European Heritage Days are to: - raise the awareness of European citizens to the richness and cultural diversity of Europe - create a climate in which the appreciation of the rich mosaic of European cultures is stimulated - counter racism and xenophobia and encourage greater tolerance in Europe and beyond the national borders - inform the public and the political authorities about the need to protect cultural heritage against new threats - invite Europe to respond to the social, political and economic challenges it faces #formicals #teknikkimya #europeanheritagedays #europe #heritagedays

The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, sometimes abbreviated World Day for Cultural Diversity, is a United Nations–sanctioned observance day for the promotion of diversity and intercultural dialogue. Protecting the diversity of cultural expressions is more important than ever and we take today to highlight not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development. With 89% of all current conflicts in the world occurring in countries with low intercultural dialogue, to forge effective cooperation and sustain peace, strengthening intercultural dialogue must be a priority.
