Pivot Point: My remarks at the 6th World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue. I was part of the 1st Plenary Session on "Leveraging Soft Power for Multilateral Strength: Bolstering compassion, building solidarity, and resisting fragmentation." I spoke on Soft Power, DEI and Intercultural Dialogue: Intersections, Exploration, and Collaboration in 2024. In the convergence of Soft Power, DEI, and Intercultural Dialogue lies the promise of a world where the diversity of humanity is celebrated, equity ensured, and dialogue becomes the currency of connection. It is here, at this intersection that we find the roadmap to a future built on empathy, respect, and the boundless potential of collective collaboration. - Effenus Henderson

My assertion that all values are not equally valid is a crucial critique of relativism in international relations. While cultural relativism encourages respect for diverse practices, it must be balanced with a commitment to universal ethical standards that promote trust, cooperation, and human rights. In navigating international relations, it is essential to recognize the complexity of cultural differences while upholding principles that foster a more just and equitable global order.

The criticisms of international institutions have significant implications for international relations. They highlight the need for greater representation and transparency in these institutions. However, the difficulty in reforming these institutions means that the current power dynamics will likely persist, leading to ongoing tensions and mistrust.
