I'm in the middle of the journey of learning English, and I can already say: it's not easy, but it's incredibly rewarding. Every new word I learn, every sentence I can form, is a small step towards something much bigger.
English is not yet fluent in my life, but I learned that it doesn't stop me from trying. Trying to communicate, trying to participate in a meeting, trying to understand a content that previously seemed distant. Each attempt is a victory and proof that progress is happening.
This journey has taught me more than one language. It teaches me about persistence, about the importance of leaving the comfort zone and, above all, about having courage.
I am grateful to Instant English Brazil which has been a fundamental partner in this process. With a practical and motivating approach, they make learning possible even in the midst of the daily rush.
I'm still learning, but I can already see the impact this decision has had on my life. If you are also in the process of learning something new, remember: progress is more important than perfection. And the most important thing is to start.
How has learning something new transformed your life?
The #Spanish proverb "El saber nunca ocupa lugar" translates to "Knowledge takes up no space" in #English.
This proverb is often used to #encourage people to learn as much as they can, as #knowledge is a valuable #asset that can never be taken away from you. It is also a reminder that #learning does not require any physical resources, so there is no reason not to pursue it.
Here are some other ways to translate the proverb in English:
* "You can never know too much."
* "Knowledge is limitless."
* "Learning is never a waste of time."
The proverb is a reminder that the pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong #journey. There is always something new to learn, and no one person can ever know everything. However, the more we #learn, the richer our lives become.
So, never stop learning!
As an educator, I sometimes find myself empowering my students in regards to their beliefs about learning.
I get caught up thinking about the idea of a fixed mindset. I understand that it helps us understand our personal limits and strengths. However, there are times in which, when I mention that learning takes a while and that even I, as a teacher, always look for ways to improve, I receive comments such as:
"But not everybody is like you", "It's because you're gifted in learning languages" or "I wish I could improve like that".
These words slightly concern me. In essence, this means that our ability to learn and improve is just something we are born with - which effectively removes our agency over our learning process. This creates a trap of sorts, because if we inherently believe that we can't do something to change our situations and take action to reach our goals, we are either setting ourselves up for failure or going to have a really hard time in achieving what we want to achieve.
Learning is seldom an easy process, but through all the difficulty lies a reward that can benefit you significantly in the long run. I myself illuminated that idea when I went to work in Spain while learning Spanish from scratch. It can be a tough job, but it's really worth it.
When we accept ourselves as human beings, who will, through trial and error, keep on learning something new, this is when we can really enable ourselves to change and improve.
You wish you could improve? You already are, and you will keep getting better and better.
You can't speak the language well? You can't speak it well . . . yet!
My greatest wish in my working life is that my struggling students realize how much they can actually change. Because I know they can, just as teachers can.
Let's embrace change 🙂

They say learning never stops—and boy, are they right! These days, I’ve taken on a challenge that’s equal parts exciting and slightly terrifying: learning Polish.
Why Polish, you ask? Well, when your partner is Polish, and you dream of living in Poland someday, it feels like a no-brainer. But let me tell you, Polish is no walk in the park. It’s been ranked one of the most challenging languages to learn (and my Polish friends confirm this when they can’t even explain some of the grammar rules themselves!).
Take “szcz” sounds, seven cases, and verbs that conjugate depending on the mood of the day… it’s like a mental gym workout. But that’s the beauty of it. The tougher the climb, the more rewarding the view, right?
For me, learning Polish isn’t just about the language. It’s about challenging myself, embracing growth, and proving that it’s never too late to pick up something new—whether that’s a new skill, a career path, or a tongue-twisting language.
So here’s to all of us pushing our boundaries and saying “tak” to continuous learning, no matter how hard (or funny) the journey gets.

We all anticipate reaching a goal, crossing the finish line, and receiving applause. It is a moment of triumph that eventually arrives.
Every little step you take brings you closer and boosts your confidence.
Have you ever thought there would come a day when you could say, "I've made it! I have finished learning! No more English problems for me!"?
Well, I'm still waiting for that day 😅, and I'm content with continuing to learn.
The journey of learning English is truly remarkable. It is filled with errors, challenges, and setbacks.
However, each of these instances has shaped me into who I am today, increased my self-respect, and helped me become more resilient and patient—a better individual.
Learning a language is no easy feat; it transforms you. It builds your character and strengthens you. I am thankful for every day spent learning.
Are you?

Two Key Lessons I’ve Learned While Learning Dutch (and How They Surprised Me)⬇️
Learning a new language is a journey filled with self-doubt, small victories, and unexpected moments of growth. Over the past two years, I've been learning Dutch through online lessons, usually just one or two sessions a week. I didn't actively study vocabulary or grammar, but I remained consistent with my lessons. I came to the Netherlands for my studies, so learning Dutch was essential—after all, I’d be living here for at least four years.
A month ago, I stumbled across a book in Dutch for just a few euros. Despite not feeling completely confident in my Dutch skills, I bought it. To my surprise, I could understand most of the text! I didn’t stop to translate every unknown word. Instead, I kept reading, and by the end of the book, I felt much more confident and capable in my ability to understand the language.
Here are two key lessons I’ve learned through this experience:
1. ⏳Consistency Pays Off💪🏻
I used to underestimate my Dutch skills because I felt like I wasn’t studying enough. I’d been consistent with my lessons, even while on my exchange semester in Korea with a 7-hour time difference with my tutor — no excuses. But over time, I’ve realized that those small, consistent efforts added up. It was a reminder that regular practice, even when it feels like you’re not making huge strides, really does lead to progress.
2. 👀You Never Know Until You Try🥇
I didn’t think I could read a whole book in Dutch. I was convinced I wasn’t "ready" or skilled enough. But I decided to take the plunge anyway, and in doing so, I discovered that I was much more capable than I had imagined. The truth is, you won’t know what you’re truly capable of until you challenge yourself. Don’t let self-doubt stop you from trying!
Learning Dutch has been a reminder that growth often happens when you push past your limits and keep showing up, even when the path ahead feels uncertain. If you’re learning a new skill or language, my advice is simple: be consistent, and never underestimate what you can achieve if you just give it a try.
PS: I have already ordered my next book in Dutch😉

🌟 Step Out of the Ordinary! 🌟
Choosing not to learn English keeps you nestled comfortably within your safe zone. It feels cozy and familiar, like a warm blanket on a cold day.
However, this comfort is deceptive. It binds you to a life of mediocrity, limiting your potential and your opportunities.
Staying in this zone may feel secure, but it prevents you from exploring the extraordinary possibilities that await outside. By not embracing the challenge of learning English, you are opting for a life of the ordinary, and missing out on the growth and success that come with it.
🚀 Take the leap, embrace the challenge, and unlock your full potential!
❓ Question: Are you willing to remain in your comfort zone and miss out on the incredible opportunities that come with mastering English?
Yes! I got it! 🎉
Last night, I was the speaker of my English graduate. I’m so proud and happy to live this moment. Let me show you my speech…
Good evening everyone!
It’s a pleasure to be here tonight as the speaker for the English class 3D at the Centro Interescolar de Línguas do Guará. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for being here, especially our families, friends, teachers, managers, and staff of CILG.
Firstly, I would like to apologize, because as I am the mother of a baby, I don't sleep, so consequently, memory is a luxury for me. So I’ll have to read the speech.
I was thinking about how to move you on this day. But the truth is that the recent journey of motherhood barely left me time to dream and inspire myself. So I thought: learning a different language is as challenging as becoming a mother or father. Look! I didn't say it’s the same, but as challenging as.
When you have a child, you need to take care of them so they grow up healthy, become more independent and free each day, and thus you also achieve success. With the language, you need to study, dedicate yourself daily, commit, and perhaps then you can achieve success.
It has been about five years of a journey that will guide us in many ways. For some, my experienced friends, I know it isn’t just about having another language on the resume, but an achievement that overcomes the barriers of time and age. It’s about dreams left behind and now reclaimed.
For the younger ones, I know this moment can mean the change of a lifetime. It can open doors and never close again. Do not stop here! And this goes for everyone! Giving up is not an option! Not for us, who have now broken the language barrier.
And how many times have you thought about giving up? But once you start learning, there's no turning back. Knowledge cannot be taken away from you; not even if you want to unlearn what has been learned.
And we owe much of this to our teachers who have guided us here. Each with their own personality and charisma made a dream come true tonight. But we also owe each other and ourselves…
The best thing is that we won’t only take English into our lives. We will take friends, good memories, good laughs, and much learning about life, about different realities. About space for speech!
Living among young people, many teenagers, was certainly a challenge for me. It's been a while since I was a teenager too. We exercise patience, but we also learn a lot. And I'm sure it wasn't always so easy or so bad for them either.
Therefore, thank you very much! I hope that our journey is just beginning and I hope that we can have good news from each other in the future.
I finally say goodbye with one of the messages that moves me every time, a quote from the movie "The Pursuit of Happyness":
“Don't ever let somebody tell you... You can't do something. Not even me. All right? You got a dream... You gotta protect it”
Thank you all very much and enjoy this success!
Nothing hinders your progress more than believing you know it all. You should know that wherever you stop in learning, it should be the starting point for another learning experience.
I can now remember vividly one of my friends with whom I started learning English. We were both striving to speak the language as fluently as native speakers. As we were learning the basics, my friend started to develop an overconfidence in his abilities. I tried to caution him about the danger that this attitude might pose to his progress, but all my efforts were in vain. To him, he sounded just like a native speaker.
One day, out of sheer curiosity, he asked to be invited to a radio program. His request was accepted immediately, and he went there just to let people hear his voice.
As the program progressed, my friend became bewildered and nervous. He mispronounced a word so badly that the broadcast had to repeat it more than three times for him to correct it.
I recorded the entire program because I wanted to set him right. Later, after they finished the program, he came back home, and I went to his place to play the recording for him.
Firstly, he recognized that his voice was not as good as he had thought. He noticed several mispronounced words and realized the gap between his perception and reality. This moment of self-awareness was crucial.
Feeling embarrassed but enlightened, he sat quietly for a while, absorbing the truth. Then, he turned to me with a newfound humility and determination. He admitted, "You were right. I let my pride get in the way of my progress. From now on, I'll embrace every opportunity to learn and improve, no matter how small."
From that day forward, he became more receptive to feedback and committed to continuous learning. He joined advanced language classes, practiced diligently, and sought constructive criticism. Gradually, his proficiency improved significantly, and he even became a mentor to others.
I just heard him speaking, when I decided to share his story here.
