SpaceX’s Starlink has officially launched its satellite internet service in Cape Verde, making the West African nation the latest to approve the low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based connectivity solution. This brings the total number of countries where Starlink operates to 117. Elon Musk announced the milestone in a post on X, emphasizing its role in global digital connectivity.  In October, Cape Verde’s regulatory body, ARME, approved Starlink Cape Verde, marking a key step in delivering high-speed, low-latency internet access to the nation.

In a few years, you’ll have your phone and internet connected through low Earth orbit satellites, eliminating the need for a local telecom operator to maintain a signal. Roaming charges will no longer be a concern, as you will access services through satellite and Wi-Fi, with Wi-Fi calling available when connected to a network and satellite service available when Wi-Fi is not.

Starlink has been revolutionary for consumers who live in areas where traditional broadband was out of reach, but it hasn't quite scratched the itch for the companies largely due to the poor fit its procurement and management was for the enterprise.
