SpaceX’s Starlink has officially launched its satellite internet service in Cape Verde, making the West African nation the latest to approve the low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite-based connectivity solution. This brings the total number of countries where Starlink operates to 117. Elon Musk announced the milestone in a post on X, emphasizing its role in global digital connectivity. In October, Cape Verde’s regulatory body, ARME, approved Starlink Cape Verde, marking a key step in delivering high-speed, low-latency internet access to the nation.

In a few years, you’ll have your phone and internet connected through low Earth orbit satellites, eliminating the need for a local telecom operator to maintain a signal. Roaming charges will no longer be a concern, as you will access services through satellite and Wi-Fi, with Wi-Fi calling available when connected to a network and satellite service available when Wi-Fi is not.
