If you work for a small nonprofit like I do, you probably know that it's hard to find time to work on planned giving. Planned gifts don't usually help you reach that all-important year-end fundraising goal, and there's a lot of technical terminology that, as a new fundraiser, you may not feel confident in discussing with donors. Here's how to get started:

It’s scary to realize Giving Tuesday is only a few weeks away. Are you afraid your email won't stand out in a crowded inbox on one of the busiest nonprofit email days of the year? The average open rate on Giving Tuesday is the same as it is the rest of the year, about 29%. Are you frightened you don’t have time to write enough emails? The most successful campaigns had no more than two emails. For most nonprofits, all you need to send is one email. Organizations that sent one email on Giving Tuesday raised more money than those that sent two, by about $1,000. This is according to research conducted by NeonOne. The link to the report is in the comments. There is nothing to fear when it comes to Giving Tuesday. Send 1-2 emails, your supporters will open and engage with them. #emailmarketing #nonprofit #fundraising

Nearly 1 million children in the UK don't own a single book*. For a child, not having access to books means missing out on the joys of storytelling, the adventure of new worlds, and the learning opportunities that reading brings. Research shows that early childhood is a critical period for brain development, and reading plays a central role in that growth. Yet, many families are unable to provide this vital resource, affecting children's future success in life. This is why we are launching a fundraising campaign to increase our book stock for children. If you are able to donate just £6, we can buy a children's book that could benefit hundreds of children. Thank you for helping us to change someone's story. https://lnkd.in/ekFWuHru (*National Literacy Trust, 2023) #librarieschangelives #readingforpleasure #libraries #fundraising #childrensbooks

It's Giving Tuesday! What are you giving today? Did you know that Giving Tuesday began in 2012 and has grown into a global movement? You don't have to make a 6-figure donation to make a difference. Every dollar counts to help nonprofits lift up our communities, care for the vulnerable, preserve our natural resources for future generations, and foster countless programs to educate, engage, and enrich the lives of our neighbors. Just a few things your donation can help give: 🏥 relief for a family caring for a sick loved one 🐶 a warm space for a dog or cat in a shelter 🍎 a meal for someone in your community 🌿 green spaces, clean air and water 📖 a new book for a young child ✨ hope, joy, kindness, love Whether it's your time through volunteering, your support in the form of a monetary donation, or your voice is raising awareness of critical causes and nonprofits in your area, I hope you are moved to give today. If you're in Portland and looking for inspiration, highly recommend checking out the annual GiveGuide at GiveGuide.org to find dozens of mission-driven organizations doing great work in our communities. Wishing all nonprofits a successful day of fundraising and all donors a joyous day of giving! (Just PLEASE, in the name of all that is good, do NOT scorn an incredible nonprofit just because they have "high overhead." It's all overhead, nonprofit workers deserve an affordable cost of living and resources to carry out their programs successfully too 💛 ) #GivingTuesday

Giving Tuesday is almost here! And we are excited to announce the fundraising goal next week! Giving Tuesday is all about promoting kindness in the community. It's more than just raising money for awesome nonprofits, it's about being part of a community that cares for each of its members. The first challenge this year of the Giving Tuesday campaign is to show someone in your community kindness. Whether it's opening a door, giving someone a big smile, or helping someone with their grocery cart; even the smallest act of kindness can have a big impact on the community. It’s Giving Tuesday, and we’re rallying to raise $10,000 for children in foster care! 💙 In just one month, With Love invests $10,000 in critical inventory to ensure children ages 0-6 are resourced, supported, and cared for. Here’s how you can help: ✅ Donate now: Every dollar brings us closer to reaching our goal. ✅ Corporate Matching: Many companies match employee donations, doubling (or even tripling!) the impact of your gift. Check with your employer to see if they participate in a matching program. ✅ Payroll Giving: Some organizations offer automatic payroll donations—an easy way to give consistently and make a difference all year long. ✨ Your generosity brings relief, hope, and belonging to the most vulnerable in our community. Together, we can create a brighter future. Every contribution counts! Donate at https://lnkd.in/gqztM3B

The recent success of the "Little Treasures Fundraising Sale" at my kids' school was truly inspiring! Working alongside a team of dedicated parents, I had the privilege to organize a sale featuring gently used items such as kids' toys, books, shoes, and winter gear donated by school families. This event not only achieved our fundraising goals but also created meaningful connections and emphasized the value of sustainability within our community. Key Outcomes: **Raised Funds for School Programs: Over $700 was raised, directly supporting art performances and field trips, enriching students' educational experiences. **Fostered a Culture of Sharing and Sustainability: The event encouraged a cycle of generosity and environmental responsibility, promoting community values. **Provided Affordable Options for Families: Families accessed quality, gently used children's items at reasonable prices, saving on seasonal essentials. **Supported Local Non-Profit Organizations: Leftover items were donated to local charities, further extending the event's positive impact to underserved families. This initiative was more than just a fundraiser—it was a celebration of community spirit, sustainability, and collective effort. Personally, I felt honored to apply my project management, event planning, marketing, and sales skills in such a meaningful way. It also became a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate professional pride to my kids, showing them how skills can make a difference. #CommunitySupport #Sustainability #FundraisingSuccess
