🎉The 2024 Americas Cash Cycle & Payments Seminar got underway here in New Orleans yesterday! We kicked things off with our special LatAm Day, conducted entirely in Spanish for premium regional networking. Our own Gonzalo Santamaria welcomed delegates, with discussions led throughout the morning by Ángel Celio Sandoval (GSI GRUPO DE SEGURIDAD INTEGRAL S.A. DE C.V.), Luis Rafael Bacco Lozano (OXXO), Alejandro Malamud (Permaquim S.A.), Carlos Molina (GLORY), Cirilo Marcos Ayling (Cirilo Ayling SAIC), Eloisa Cadenas (Monetae.io). The programming continued after lunch with an introductory workshop on ‘AI for Central Banks & Financial Institutions.’ Hosted by Peter Tapling, APRP of PTap Advisory, LLC, the workshop dug into the myriad ways that AI is primed to transform the financial sector, such as risk management and fraud detection, explored the regulatory and ethical implications of AI in finance, and examined real examples of how central banks and FIs are already deploying AI. We capped the day with a lovely welcome reception as delegates caught up with old friends and new and shared a laugh and a beverage before the full program commenced the next day! 🍷 🍻 #AmericasCCS2024 #cash #payments #networking #AI #LatAm

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor.studio: 2024: Where Regulatory Evolution Meets Technological Innovation The AML Package and MICAR regulations didn't just change banking rules - they redefined how financial institutions must approach digital transformation and compliance. Key Professional Milestones: • Appointed Expert at Banca d'Italia, focusing on emerging financial technologies and regulatory frameworks • Developed deep expertise in EU regulatory implementations, including detailed analysis of MICAR and AML Package • Generated significant professional network engagement through targeted regulatory insights Three Posts That Defined My Professional Perspective: 1. "Activation of Systemic Risk Capital Reserve for Italian Banks" Analysis of Banca d'Italia's strategic capital buffer implementation https://lnkd.in/dMKEhRy8 2. A recent joint report by the Bank for International Settlements – BIS and the Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI), presented to the #G20, explores the #tokenization of money and other assets and its implications for #centralbanks. Here are some key insights from the BIS and CPMI joint report on tokenization: ✅ Tokenization Defined: It refers to digitally representing traditional assets on programmable platforms like Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). ✅ Multi-Asset Platforms: Token arrangements enable multi-asset, multi-function transactions on a single platform, improving integration. ✅ Efficiency Gains: Tokenization can reduce transaction costs, increase transparency, and speed up processes, especially for cross-border payments. ✅ Programmability: Automation through smart contracts enables conditional transactions like atomic settlements (e.g., DvP), eliminating risks. ✅ Risks: Legal uncertainties, operational, credit, and liquidity risks are significant challenges for tokenized systems. ✅ Central Bank Role: Central banks must provide settlement assets (e.g., CBDCs) and ensure interoperability across platforms. ✅ Market Impact: Tokenization could affect monetary policy and the demand for central bank money. ✅ Public-Private Collaboration: Cooperation is essential for managing risks and promoting standardization. ✅ Network Effects: Token arrangements thrive on network effects but need critical mass to scale. As a leader in real-world asset tokenization, Zoniqx has been pioneering innovative solutions in this space, offering #compliant and #interoperable platforms that address the challenges of tokenized financial markets. Zoniqx's ecosystem integrates tokenized asset lifecycle management, ensuring secure, scalable, and efficient tokenization across multiple asset classes. By leveraging cutting-edge solutions, Zoniqx is enabling central banks and financial institutions to unlock the full potential of digital tokens. 👉 For any partnership or sales inquiries, contact the Zoniqx team here: https://lnkd.in/e47SA2q4 👉 Stay updated with all Zoniqx news by following us on Telegram: https://lnkd.in/eppgDWbg #BIS #Tokenization #CentralBanks #FinancialInnovation #Zoniqx #DLT

Financial Stability Board (FSB), “Recommendations to Promote Alignment and Interoperability Across Data Frameworks Related to Cross-border Payments” In October 2020, the FSB published the Roadmap for Enhancing Cross-border Payments, developed in coordination with the Bank for International Settlements’ Committee on Payments and Market Infrastructures (CPMI) and other relevant international organisations (IOs) and standard-setting bodies (SSBs) to address the four challenges faced by cross-border payments of high costs, low speed, limited access and insufficient transparency and the frictions in existing processes that contribute to these challenges. The Roadmap was endorsed by G20 Leaders. The FSB, the CPMI and partner bodies subsequently identified priority themes to take the Roadmap forward. These included enhancing interaction between the laws, rules, and regulatory requirements for collecting, storing, and managing data (referred to as “data frameworks” in the Roadmap) related to cross-border payments. This consultation report presents the outcome of the FSB’s analysis. Comments are requested on 12 policy recommendations to promote alignment and interoperability in data frameworks related to cross-border payments.
