⛽ 🚛 Do you move tanks, battery vehicles or MEGCs? 🚛 ⛽ Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom has introduced an authorisation for tanks to continue to be used on the road and railways in Great Britain for three months after the specified date for an intermediate inspection. ADR & RID specify tanks should undergo a five year periodic inspection and a 2.5 year intermediate periodic inspection. It is this intermediate inspection where a three-month grace period has been introduced, allowing for tanks to be in use for a little longer after their inspection due date. For tank owners and operators, the authorisation will provide more flexibility as to when inspections take place. Oy vey, I called the FMCSA CS number 5/21/2024 to ask whether or not inspections in Canada on US carriers appeared in CSA. I was told, "Yes inspections in Canada are reported to SMS and carriers may do DataQ challenges." 🙄 I also sent an email to the CSA team: Comments, suggestions, and/or questions - Do CVSA vehicle inspections in Canada go into MCMIS? Can carriers do DataQ challenges on Canada based inspections? Does Canada use the FMCSR e.g. Part 393.11 or does Canada have its own safety regulations? The response this AM says: Michael, Thank you for taking the time to submit your questions. Inspections performed in Canada are not included in MCMIS data. For that reason, you cannot use DataQs to request a review on these inspections since FMCSA does not have this information.  As for Canadian Federal Requirements, there is information on this subject here: https://lnkd.in/gYe7DtfS CSA Team I will accept the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's CSA team that inspections from Canada do not appear in SMS/CSA. 😉 Happy Hump Day!
