A company owning a British boat, bought in 2017 and mostly stationed in Italian waters, seeks clarification on duties and VAT after 18 months from January 1, 2021, when the UK was treated as a non-EU state. British leisure boats in EU waters as of January 1, 2021 retain their Union goods status; otherwise, those in non-EU waters lose this status. They can be reintroduced into the EU without duties if unchanged and returned within three years.
