Global President - MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service)

IMPORTANT UPDATE Mon 5 Aug 2024 1. MaaS (Mobility-as-a-Service) as both a Service and new Business Model  is the best way forward for the EV industry, in India and as a global hub for MaaS worldwide based on the comprehensive design of MaaS Movement as an orbit-shifting innovation. We need to collaborate and reorganise the industry as we step up our efforts to make this top priority for Curtain Raiser event on 9th of August and the focus of EV India Expo 2024. We are making our best efforts for the Hon. Union Minister for Heavy Industries or his key officials to be present during the Panel Discussion. 2. Mobility-as-a-Service is the Future of Transport and can reverse the declining interest in EVs reflected in sales and profits. There is no FAME 3 announced in Union Budget 2024. Only the EMPS with another 270 crores is allocated and last extended by 2 months to 30 September 2024. 3. Fast, Efficient and Safe EV Charging is not like mobile or laptop charging. It is like Cell Towers and more like metro Railway Stations. Problems & Mitigation: Charging Anxiety & Range Anxiety; Loss of Freedom of Motoring   1. Charging and range anxiety are significant barriers to widespread EV adoption, beyond the Early Adopters. Despite advancements in battery technology and increasing range capabilities, many consumers still fear running out of power mid-journey, especially as the actual range is at times half of the specified range. This concern is multiplied in a big country with inadequate charging infrastructure like India. Unless consumers can be assured of sufficient range and reliable charging options, range anxiety will continue to slow down EV adoption. MaaS Movement Mitigation: We create public facility like Motorway Stations for plug n park facility for 4-wheeled EV - cars, SUV and minibuses as app-based multi-class fleet vehicles - Platinum, Gold, Silver n Economy with world class navigation design for easy entry and exit and modal transfer for first and last mile connectivity. Feeder and in the neighbourhood movement is on Micromobility modes - EV 3W (only CNG 3W that are very low noise), EV 2W and bicycles with plug n park with solar and wind powered Micromobility Stations at every 0.5 kms with pick and drop facility for Premium Service. contd. 2

MaaS Movement Mitigation: As app-based fleet vehicles with a high availability coverage throughout the country, low daily mileage or running out of charge is no longer a problem. Besides, EV MaaS customers receive an array of attractive new features hitherto unheard of in the Motoring industry – Assured Travel Speed (with priority for critical services – ambulance, fire engine, VIP movement and premium travel); only pay for access (no ownership baggage of vehicle theft insecurity, insurance premiums, parking, tolls, bad roads etc.); flexible seating capacity – from single seat to group to full vehicle bookings; prosumer driving options with Driving Proficiency Rating to screen the best drivers; Favourite Co-Traveller List among several others. 2. Contd. 2 2. EVs Don’t Make Economic Sense for Low Daily Mileage Car buyers who drive only 20-30 kilometers a day find the economic benefits of EVs less visible. (This is true for 80% of car owners). The significant savings on fuel and maintenance costs, which are major selling points for EVs, become negligible at lower mileages. So in such cases, the higher upfront cost of an EV is harder to justify. Reference: 1.
