A beginner's mind is a pre-requisite for our true potential to be charged with expanded success. Think of this metaphor - You are hiking and carrying so much in your backpack. It would be challenging to explore and navigate new terrain while carrying so much baggage from previous needs, experiences, and the stories we tell ourselves about what we want. That's the notion of a beginner's mind - to allow our psyche to adventure into an experience with the self, another or the world itself with openness, amazement, awe and wonder. This is the territory for creativity and curiosity to maximize human potential for leadership in any given environment - work or personal. Every moment is a fresh start.
Every day is a fresh start. ☀️

Starting each day as a beginner might seem daunting. The comfort of familiarity is replaced by the uncertainty of learning curves. Yet, it’s in this space of beginner’s mind where the magic happens. Being a beginner means you’re open to new perspectives, eager to learn, and free from the constraints of ‘this is how it’s always been done.’ It’s about embracing vulnerability and cultivating curiosity—qualities that are essential in today’s ever-changing world. Yes, it’s challenging. You’ll face self-doubt and the fear of failure. But remember, every expert was once a beginner. The willingness to start fresh, to be humble, and to learn is what drives personal mastery and innovation. So, let’s celebrate the beginner’s spirit. It keeps us agile, resilient, and forward-thinking. It’s not just about acquiring new skills; it’s about transforming our approach to life and work. And that’s why being a beginner every morning is not just important, it’s imperative. #ContinuousLearning #GrowthMindset #Innovation

If all of these types of people end up being “wrong” — meaning their approaches don’t lead to positive outcomes or align with reality — it would be a tough but valuable lesson. Sometimes, people who are inspired, passionate, motivated, grateful, and open-minded can be misguided, or their qualities may blind them to critical flaws in their thinking or actions. Here’s what could happen and how to learn from it: 1. The Inspired Inspiration can sometimes become tunnel vision. People may become so captivated by their ideas that they overlook practical limitations or feedback. You might witness them taking on impractical goals, risking burnout or even failure. From this, you could learn the importance of balancing inspiration with critical thinking and grounded realism. 2. The Passionate Passion without focus or flexibility can turn into stubbornness. You may have seen cases where passionate individuals push for ideas despite signs they aren’t viable. While passion fuels perseverance, it’s valuable to temper it with the willingness to pivot when things aren’t working. This would highlight for you the importance of balancing passion with adaptability and reflection. 3. The Motivated Motivation is powerful, but if it’s not directed by clear values or purpose, it can lead to actions that are more about achievement for achievement’s sake. Seeing motivated individuals pursue goals without understanding the “why” behind them can remind you to stay connected to meaningful objectives and not just outcomes. 4. The Grateful Gratitude is crucial, but if it turns into complacency or acceptance of negative conditions, it can become limiting. If grateful people settle or tolerate less-than-ideal situations, it could be a reminder that gratitude is best combined with a sense of agency and aspiration to improve circumstances, rather than simply accepting them. 5. The Open-Minded Open-mindedness without discernment can lead to a lack of conviction or direction. If these people keep experimenting without sticking to any decision, it could create chaos and dilute progress. This would illustrate that open-mindedness should be balanced with a clear sense of principles and a willingness to commit. In short, if all of these people are “wrong,” it would emphasize that qualities we value are best when balanced with critical thinking, adaptability, purpose, agency, and discernment.
When you are surrounded by 5 passionate, motivated, positive, productive and happy persons, you will be the 6th. Choose your circle very well. SJ

CE Hon. Tracey Martin is en route to Reefton today to meet with locals fighting to replace the aged care services their community lost earlier this year. For many, the closure of Ziman House has meant loved ones must leave their town, their community, and their loved ones to receive the care they need. Today's update explores the challenges of delivering care in rural areas such as Reefton, and what New Zealand can learn from Australia's approach. Because we don’t have to reinvent the wheel here; we can learn from proven models and adapt them to meet the unique needs of our communities, ensuring equitable access to care for all New Zealanders, no matter where they live. Tracey also points out that these scenarios are the results of decisions. Somewhere along the way, a decision has been made inside Te Whatu Ora, inside government, that it is okay not to provide aged care to some of our communities. The ACA continues to call for members of government to look at what the Australian’s are doing, and consider the benefits for the New Zealand aged care sector of adopting innovative funding models, like block funding, to support rural and regional communities in providing sustainable and locally tailored aged care solutions. #AgedCare #RuralHealthcare #RuralCommunities
Heading off to Reefton today.
