⭐️NUMBER OF THE WEEK⭐️ In the first quarter of 2024, several new investment decisions were made and wind turbine orders were placed in #Sweden. However, there are concerns that the pace of government work is not sufficient to speed up and streamline the permitting process for both onshore and #offshorewind power - as indicated by the latest data and forecasts from The Swedish Wind Energy Association (SWEA). 🇸🇪 The industry stresses that it is prepared to meet the increased demand for electricity, forecasting up to 106 GW of offshore wind power and 17 GW of onshore wind power. 🌊 Read more: https://lnkd.in/d-Wjxbys

This weekends grid dynamics are remarkable first and foremost because of the total glut of renewables (alas mostly wind 💨 in GB rather than Solar ☀️) and the hours and hours of negative prices. Spare a thought for the interconnectors which are helping balance power - often flowing in contrary motion to help correct for onshore transmission constraints - and make do with Britain outside the EU Internal Energy Market Https://gb.kilowatts.io

➡️ WindEurope's recent report highlights significant strides in Europe’s wind energy sector, with a record 16.2 GW of new onshore and offshore capacity installed in 2023. ℹ️ Despite this progress, challenges persist, particularly in the timely expansion of Europe’s electricity grids. AR6 Results out today. Offshore wind back with bang and some great news for solar in there too (and some real questions now about how best to market new solar). Would be nice to see bigger roll out of FLOW as we move forwards but the 400 MW a really good start to a whole new era for the OSW industry. Onshore wind's 900 MW looks exciting too although it would be nice to see some of those MW in England where they are more urgently needed by the Grid. Good news... more to be done. #Netzero
