The worst part is, QR scans have highest chances of evading Email filters as most of the filters work on Content-based filtering. It is also possible for an attacker to target the user’s personal devices that are not monitored by any corporate companies. This provides evasion for hackers from security products. Falling victim to a cyber attack is extremely dangerous to several things including Extortion of money from victims and threats to leak personal information . #quishing #cyberattacks #cyberthreats #securityawareness

Companies are using QR codes to get in front of you in unique ways. A Superbowl Commercial from a few years ago comes to mind—a QR code bounces off the borders of your TV with no other substance describing what it is leading - for instance. With reputable companies using QR codes to link Multi-Factor Authentication Systems and other things, this is creating a trusting environment that makes it difficult to advise against scanning QR Codes. IF you must scan a code be hyper-vigilant and here are a few helpful reminders.. - Verify the source before scanning a QR code. Avoid scanning QR codes from random websites or emails you don’t trust. - Be cautious when scanning QR codes that request personal information like passwords or banking details. - Update your phone software to the latest version. - Limit scanning QR codes that are not on “official” documents given or sent to you directly by the organization you are interacting with. - After scanning, verify that you have landed on the legitimate web page you would expect.

QR codes aren't new, but to some in our community they're still not well known. Did you know QR code is a two-dimensional barcode that's readable by image devices (smartphone cameras, for example)? We use QR codes for me us, ordering, check-in at appointments, and more. Quick transactions that usually don't have support behind it to answer questions, such as, is it hackable? Unfortunately, it is! How do you know what website the code is taking you to? Below is another good example of how dangerous QR codes can be. I recommend not using QR codes unless you know how to verify the website attached to them. So how do you protect yourself? Ask for a paper menu, check-in at the disk or via the App, avoid checking out via QR, too. Stay informed, stay safe, keep your data secure.

We are always reminding users about phishing email scams-but don't forget about #QRCodePhishing or #Quishing. If it's an ad, just go directly to the company's website. No "discount" or "deal" is worth being compromised! #thinkbeforeyouscan
