Over the years, I’ve experienced many triumphs and setbacks on my journey towards becoming a technology professional. As we celebrate Girls in ICT Day this week, I would like to share my personal journey - the highs, the lows and the in-betweens. Particularly, I would like to stress how important it is for girls to have positive role models in spaces where we are minorities and to have a support system, especially when things become challenging or confusing. However, in the absence of role models or support, it is equally important for us to believe in ourselves and persevere as we strive to achieve our dreams. Click on the link in below to learn how this former girl in ICT became a woman in tech! 👩🏽💻 https://lnkd.in/gy7kQkuE #girlsinict #womenintech #computerscience #informationsystems #informationtechnology #dataengineer #dataanalytics

"Happy International Girls in ICT Day! Today, we celebrate the achievements of girls and women in the field of Information and Communications Technology. It's important to recognize the contributions of women in this industry, as they have been historically underrepresented. Girls in ICT Day serves as a reminder that we need to encourage more girls to pursue careers in technology. There are so many exciting opportunities in this field, from coding and programming to cybersecurity and data analysis. And yet, only a small percentage of girls choose to study these subjects. But things are changing. More and more girls are becoming interested in technology, and organizations like ours are working hard to provide them with the resources they need to succeed. At AITECH, we will continue to support and empower girls and women, so that they can become the next generation of leaders in ICT. So, to all the girls out there who are interested in technology: don't be afraid to pursue your dreams, we are here to receive you! You have the talent and the intelligence to succeed in this field. And to everyone else: let's continue to support and encourage girls in ICT, so that we can create a more diverse and inclusive industry for everyone." Happy International Girls in ICT Day. AITECH.

"Technology has no gender. Technology is for the whole society, and it is 50-50. Girls are part of this powerful 50." - Mar Porras It's out! This year, I had the pleasure of once again explaining the magic of TechnovationCAT, an initiative that brings technology education closer to girls and teenagers. #RoleModels play a huge part in shaping our choices, and by showing girls that women are active in the #TechIndustry from a young age, we can inspire them to pursue careers in technology and start their projects. This time I've partnered up with Alberto Redondo - Video maker who captured the essence of the day. The overall narrative of the project through the interviews is my edit. A big thank you to the amazing team that makes this chapter possible in #Catalunya: Marta Sabadell Marín, Noelia Alvarez, Rosa Prats Novau, Núria Sabaté, and Josep Ramón Plantas. And a special thanks to Esther Subias for your key mentorship throughout the years (gracias de corazón 🩷). 👉 Technovation has chapters worldwide. I highly recommend taking a look to find your nearest community chapter! There are many ways to get involved: https://lnkd.in/en-AVhti ____ About Technovation: Girls are changing the world with technology. Climate change, domestic violence, women's equality, accessibility — these are just a few problems 2,100 Technovation Girls teams tackled in 2023. We are a global tech education nonprofit that empowers girls to become leaders, creators and problem-solvers. Our Technovation Girls program equips young women (ages 8-18) to become tech entrepreneurs and leaders. With the support of volunteer mentors and parents, girls work in teams to code mobile apps that address real-world problems. After participating in Technovation Girls: Students express a greater interest in technology and leadership after participating in our program, and 58% of our alumni enroll in more computer science courses after Technovation. That's not all – alumni go on to start their own businesses, present at prestigious events, meet world leaders, and even return to support the next cohorts of Technovation Girls. https://lnkd.in/eW_cutid

Pete Dring said it best “Every student should be leaving school with the digital skills required to thrive in the workplace and society” In 2015 43% of candidates for ICT GCSE were female, compared with just 21% of those who took GCSE computer science in 2023, a reduction of 22% female representation. According to new research by King’s College London, whilst the government’s reforms were aimed at creating “more academically challenging and knowledge-based” qualifications, the introduction of the new syllabus has had the unintended consequence of driving female entries down. Hatch Digital is dedicated to supporting women into tech careers and is on a mission to increase female representation in tech, year on year. We’d love to hear your opinion, how do you think we can encourage more young women into tech? #womenintech #diversityintech #supportyoungwomenintech

Today, we celebrate the International Girls in ICT Day, advocated by UN Women. It's a day dedicated to empowering girls and young women in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Around the globe, various events and workshops are held to inspire and equip girls with the skills needed to thrive in the digital world. However, as we observe this day, we must acknowledge the challenges girls face online. Digital threats, such as exposure to harmful content and online harassment, can prevent them from accessing educational resources and participating in digital spaces. By creating safer online environments, we enable girls to fully explore their potential. Visit UN Women's website to find out how you can get involved and inspire the next generation of female leaders in technology 👉 https://bit.ly/3W267HL #GirlsinICT #UNWomen #EmpowerGirls #OnlineSafety #DigitalOpportunities #DigitalLiteracy #GirlSafety #UNDay #INHOPE
