There is a new wave of start-ups focusing on defense technologies, and the recent backing of Ares Industries by Y Combinator confirms that the industry keeps an eye on this emerging trend. In this context, Ziarul BURSA wrote an article about the perspectives of Romanian funds on this trend. Although we're not specifically focusing on defense start-ups, we have also noticed the trend. Even more, we noticed that many of the start-ups we invested in have dual-use technologies, which can only be a good business advantage for those start-ups. Since 1985, more than 200 companies have formed by licensing technologies from the University of Florida. UF Innovate | Ventures seeks to fuel consistent growth in the number and quality of technology-based startup companies. These startups move UF inventions out of the lab and into the marketplace for the global good. UF Innovate | Ventures supports startups by developing entrepreneurs, connecting companies to potential investors, and making equity investments. Dr. Streeter was selected to lead Ventures in 2019. Previously, he was an inventor of more than 20 patented technologies, the founder and CEO of multiple startup companies, including UF startup Banyan Biomarkers, and the CEO and executive director of the Florida Technology Seed Capital Fund.
