A question that I often get asked is, "Aditya, how can I be succinct and not give over-engineered responses?" The real challenge is NOT that we don't know how to articulate sentences succinctly. The real challenge lies in identifying and overcoming the obstacles that prevent us from giving succinct responses. Yesterday was the start of the 2-day ONE Conference organised by the Ministerie van Economische Zaken at the Worldforum in The Hague. A moment where government officials, startups, cybersecurity companies and knowledge institutions are being updates on the latest developments and cyber challenges in a fast changing world. One of the presentations was by Secura with a worrying statement: “its increasingly easier to perform OT-related cyber attacks”. My conclusion: We should increasingly invest in knowledge, tools and methods to counter these attacks pro-actively. And we should do this within the golden triangle: companies/government/knowledge institutions.

Happy to share that our team won 1st place and the prize of $150,000 in the Cyber Innovators Challenge for the topic of Data and Permeability, hosted by the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) and UC2- Department of Defense University Consortium for Cybersecurity. Our team, which includes Antonia Feffer, had the privilege of participating as a finalist in the pitch event last week to present and answer questions from the judges about our research. At the core of our solution is our Multi-Domain Range (MDR) that we will employ to create high fidelity, scalable, anonymized, and useful datasets. One major lesson I learned from this process is that research often must be iterative and persistent, where we may not see the end result from the beginning. When I first started a cyber range with just a used Dell R740 server, I had no idea it would evolve into the MDR, but I simply wanted to create a useful platform for research, education, and training. #research #data #cybersecurity
