Unlocking regional potential can be crucial to drive Europe’s long-term #competitiveness and industrial modernisation. Fragmentation is one of the biggest challenges Europe faces in maintaining its competitive edge. 🔑 To succeed, Europe needs a unified approach—one that harnesses the strengths and potential of all its regions, preparing them to be fit for the future. Regions like South-East and North-East #Romania, Andalucía #Spain, Małopolskie #Poland, Dél-Alföld #Hungary and Sicilia #Italy to name a few... This #EURegionsWeek is the ideal time🔔 to talk about how to unlock regional potential... 🔗Our four key reasons why a unified approach is essential 👉 https://lnkd.in/dscG4Pzp #IndustrialPolicy European Committee of the Regions

Presentation of regional good practices and information exchange play an essential role in the projects of the Interreg Europe funding program. The Regional Council of Kainuu is involved in the CHERRY project, which develops the role of culture in regional development. In January-February, the project has gathered regional practices from culture and creative fields related to three themes: 1) local development, 2) valorization of cultural and natural heritage, and 3) urban development. The practices of different regions have been discussed at meetings of transnational working groups. From Kainuu, Minna Komulainen and Elina Keränen presented practices related to cultural and natural heritage: Kainuu’s built heritage and cultural environment program, the Singing Heritage Route, and war museums (Raatteen portti and Kuhmo winter war museum). The 9 CHERRY partner areas are different, and they are mainly united by a rich and unique cultural heritage. From Kainuu’s point of view, it is interesting to follow the development activities of the other areas. For example, the support for Italy’s creative industries or the maintenance of UNESCO sites, as well as Belgium’s artistic environmental interventions as part of the regional political discussion, are of interest. We will hear more about other areas when good practices will be compared in more detail. Next up at the end of February is a peer learning trip to Leiedal, Belgium, where the theme is urbanization, digitalization and the green transition in terms of culture and creative industries. #CHERRY #Interreg #InterregEUROPE
