As we progress toward the final stages of the GRACED the project coordinated by CyRIC | Cyprus Research & Innovation Center Ltd, we are pleased to share key takeaways from our recent webinar, "Photonics-Based Sensing for Safer Food." Alessandro Guisti representing CyRIC, led the session, discussing the need for faster, more efficient food quality controls and introducing GRACED’s achievements. Several additional consortium partners presented GRACED’s sensor technology, devices, and overall functionality. Invited talks from representatives of the h-ALO and PHOTONFOOD projects shed some light on adaptable systems for multi-analyte monitoring and cutting-edge mid-infrared photonic solutions for rapid, farm-to-fork food safety testing. Supported by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme, the GRACED project is setting new standards in food safety through advanced photonics. Microwave ovens are effective at adding energy to water molecules. It is interesting to explore this principle as a means to further improve freeze drying cycles.
This year’s ISL-FD conference in Torino, Italy, stood out for its unique blend of product formulation and process optimization for freeze-drying operations, making it a truly exceptional event. It was also the perfect venue to announce our partnership with LyoWave, Inc. to integrate microwave enhanced freeze-drying innovation into our freeze dryers. Read the full press release here: https://buff.ly/4dsEb65 “It has been a pleasure to meet with our partners and have rich discussions on the scientific and technical side of freeze drying,” shared Martial Pabon, President and CEO. Thank you to the International Society of Lyophilization - Freeze Drying, Inc. , as well as the organizers from Politecnico di Torino, for hosting a great event. How can we reach a comprehensive monitoring of microbial contamination in the drinking water network and in industrial process water? This is one of the central questions behind our participation at the IFAT worldwide 2024 in Munich. Pathogens can be found anywhere in the water network. Central monitoring in treatment plants alone is often insufficient to prevent contaminated water from reaching the end user. One promising method is fluorescence-based flow cytometry. We are currently developing a compact, automated sensor system for comprehensive monitoring of microbial contamination in the water network and industrial process water. Progress has been made under the so called "IMFLUSS" project towards developing a new flow cytometer with sub-ns time resolution. You can find us at the Fraunhofer joint booth in hall B2 booth 338.
