Fujitsu has received an order for a gate-based superconducting quantum computer from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). This marks the first commercial quantum computer system order for a Japanese vendor! The journey began with the establishment of the RIKEN RQC-Fujitsu Collaboration Center in 2021, where we've been pioneering advancements in superconducting quantum computers. The new system, leveraging technology developed at the center, is scheduled for operation in early 2025 by AIST's Global Research and Development Center for Business by Quantum-AI technology (G-QuAT). Highlights: 1. Development of Japan’s second domestically-made superconducting quantum computer. 2. Expansion of practical quantum applications in fields like materials informatics, finance, and drug discovery. 3. Introduction of one of the world’s largest quantum computer systems, scalable to hundreds of qubits without upgrading dilution refrigerators. 4. Launch of a hybrid quantum computing platform for enterprises in October 2023. 5. Received an order for the ABCI-Q quantum and AI cloud from G-QuAT of AIST.
