Thought of this short video from 2015 today during a conversation with a colleague and watched it again. Such a good way to highlight the difference between power vs. energy, as well as how inefficient old incandescent lightbulbs (aka toaster-lights) really are when compared to LEDs of today! And same could be said for the comparison of heat pumps vs. electric furnaces, as well as heat pump water heaters vs. electric water heaters.

I talk about Energy waste a lot because I see it everyday. “Do you know how much energy you are wasting?” Is a question I ask a lot which I know is the type of question I can never expect an answer for. Most buildings typically waste 20% of the energy they consume. Another question to ask would be “What does 20% of your annual energy spend look like?” I see Energy waste like a tennis player views unforced errors. It is Energy you are literally giving away. Therefore if you want a 20% energy reduction you just need to improve on your unforced errors #tennis #savingenergyeverywhereigo

A very interesting video that shows what it takes to power a toaster. Sometimes, it is hard to visualize abstract EE concepts such as voltage, power, and current. To us, we just turn on a light switch and we have light. But this video here puts into perspective how much electrical energy it takes to complete simple tasks. https://lnkd.in/gzhbM7RW
