Brands that are touting "anti-aging" are exacerbating the misleading definition of beauty. While this message has been fed to midlife women for generations, it's now being delivered to young girls. I commend Dove for their #TheFaceof10 campaign and commitment to promote self-confidence in young girls. "When did 10-year-olds start worrying about wrinkles and getting older? Creating a product that champions women's body positivity is a challenge when confronted with corporate greed that thrives on women's insecurities, which they have perpetuated. For years, women have been bombarded with advertisements dictating the products necessary to boost our confidence in our appearance. This unfortunate reality fosters a belief among women that they are inadequate, unattractive, and unworthy. In India, the same companies that market skin-lightening creams to women also promote tinted products for a sun-kissed glow in the USA. So, which is it—lighter or tanned skin that epitomizes beauty? The answer is neither. Corporations continuously dictate how women should look, crafting a narrow definition of beauty solely to sell their products, from waist-cinching undergarments to push-up bras and high heels. It seems that men are not subjected to such blatant manipulation. Women across America have attempted to express their legitimate concerns regarding autonomy over their bodies, yet we have not succeeded in making our voices heard.

"Don't talk about periods with men" "Don't enter the kitchen during periods" "Probably a woman driver" "Body hair on women is undesirable" All of us have heard these 'taboos' in our lives. It's 2024 and it's high time we get rid of them. I've been working with Sirona | Good Glamm Group since 2019 and I love how we break taboos daily, in so many ways. 1. We offer products in categories that aren't even spoken of; like period care, women's intimate health, toilet hygiene, sexual wellness and so on. I was introduced to a period care product called the 'menstrual cup' when I started working here and I 'cupverted' around 1.5 yrs ago. This product has absolutely changed my period life. If more people take this step of breaking the taboo and discussing such useful products and their benefits without any shame, we can create a much larger impact for all menstruators. 2. These topics are not discussed in daily conversations leading to lack of knowledge and misinformation. Hence, we create ample content in the form of videos, reels, statics, blogs on such topics to keep our audience educated and help them take informed decisions. 3. The team has a fair balance of men and women. It's absolutely NORMAL for us to discuss any of these categories, their products and experiences related to it with each other, irrespective of gender and age. Talking about periods or intimate hygiene at Sirona is as normal as discussing food or clothing! 4. To take this vision of 'Breaking Taboos' forward with our audience, this Women's Day, we created a makeshift RAGE ROOM in Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering. Some common taboos were written on plates and over 200+ women joined us to come and break these taboos, quite literally! It was a truly amazing experience for the students and our team!
