“Divorced Dads: Shattering the Myths” by Sanford Braver is a seminal work that challenges many widely held beliefs about fathers post-divorce. Braver, a professor of psychology, embarked on this study with the aim of debunking myths through empirical research.

50% of marriages end in divorce. The most common reason is that a lot of people lose admiration for their partners after the initial spark fades away. They choose partners based on superficial parameters like looks, money or status. But all of these traits are transitory and lose their charm over time. The solution lies in going deeper when trying to find a partner. Understand the personality of your potential partner at a deeper level and make sure it's compatible with yours. Personality Type theory is the best framework out there to understand yourself and others around you. It can even predict with great accuracy what problems a pair might run into, based on their personality type and the interaction of various cognitive functions. If you're interested in learning more about this theory and its application in our lives, join my Psychology Cohort from 19th May - 9th June. It will include 4 deep-dive sessions on Personality Type Theory, held on consecutive Sundays. Click the Topmate link in the comments for more details and book your seat now :)

Mothers in shared physical custody arrangements are more likely to remain employed, less likely to report work-family conflict, and likely to experience greater earnings than mothers in sole physical custody in the long-term after divorce, after accounting for pre-divorce levels of earnings and employment. Qualitative anecdotes illustrate how divorced mothers navigate employment and parenting obligations over the post-divorce period, juggling work schedules, benefits, pay, and child support receipts, and how parenting ideals figure in their decisions regarding work. This paper formed the bulk of my dissertation work, and was a joy and a challenge to see through to the Family Relations journal. It is available open access here: https://lnkd.in/eig8A9hd
