We experienced the most well-attended edition of the bonding-studierendeninitiative e. V. event today. Never before have we had so many visitors at our booth as we did this time. It was fantastic to see students from near and far finding the DAF Trucks stand. They showed great interest and wanted to know all the details about the automotive company from the Netherlands. Colleagues Cristiano Mazzuca and Marijn Hanssen, with their technical backgrounds in the departments Product Development and Operations respectively, were able to provide the technical students from West Europe largest technical university, RWTH Aachen University with the answers they were looking for. Colleagues from HR, Anne Kornuijt - Bressers, Maroan Bouadli-Arfaoui and Maurice Klaassens, were able to answer numerous questions about job vacancies, internships, and careers within DAF and PACCAR, and shared the most important sources of information. It was an absolute success, with all flyers, pens, and other gadgets being received by a diverse, international, and enthusiastic crowd, leading them to the career site of #DAF. #automotive #mechanical #material #embedded #engineering #TogetherWeAreDAF #WeArePACCAR

What is the most important lesson from your career that you would like to pass on to your children? As my children finish up their school year, their curiosity is in full swing. They recently asked me how I ended up working at MAN Truck & Bus UK. Questions about me instead of their holiday plans? I'm surprised too. But thinking back, I figured it might be worth sharing here as well. During my studies, I started leaning towards hands-on experiences. The more practical my learning got, the more I was hooked. This led me to internships at Volkswagen, where I focused on parts pricing and strategy. Those experiences sparked my passion for tackling real-world challenges. Ready to jump-start my career, I aimed for a role in a lively city (being young might've influenced that choice!) and looked for a trainee program that could broaden my business insights, building on my parts internship. MAN's 18-month trainee program in Munich was exactly what I was looking for. It gave me a chance to dive into different aspects of business, especially in Business Development Parts. Joining MAN in 2007 was the start of an amazing journey that's still going strong 17 years later! Transitioning from university to the corporate world was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but every step has been incredibly rewarding. Lessons I hope my children take away from my journey is to stay open to new challenges, embrace the unknown, and be proactive in their career development. Most importantly, I want them to understand that everyone’s path is unique—there’s no right or wrong way, and they should do what feels right for them. Let me know in the comments what lessons you'd like your children to learn from your career journey 👇 #MANTruckandBus #CareerJourney #Leadership

Meet some of our summer interns this year! This is what Sofie Saga Fabian Anton Anton Oskar and Petter think so far: "Freedom and flexibility to plan one's work is very nice. Our supervisors are good at ensuring enough assignments for the summer so it should not get boring at work. Also, you feel no pressure, there is an understanding that you are new and can't know everything." "It feels like you will get to learn a lot. It's nice to see how the things you study actually work in real life." This summer we offer different assignments and projects in customer project teams, development teams, and in our workshop. The tasks vary from creating models, automatize, using C++ to hands-on work with cars. One of our summer interns will also continue working at NIRA during the autumn as a test driver which we are very happy about. We want to even remind that as always, we offer several Master Thesis projects for spring 2025, stay tuned! #liu #linköpingsuniversitet #ingenjör #sommarjobb #mjärdevi #mjärdevisciencepark

📣 This week’s GRIP Summer Intern Spotlight is Jack Turbush! Jack is an undergraduate student in his fourth year at Georgia Tech, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. Jack is currently interning with Airbus in Bremen, Germany. Read on to learn how Jack turned his summer internship offer into an incredible experience working in High-Lift Component Loads and Dynamics. ⬇ 🌍 Typical day in your new role? “Typically, I arrive and sometimes get to see the Beluga as I bike across the site. I typically work on my project for the week, get coffee with a fellow Yellow Jacket coworker, go to lunch and take a lap around the site, and go back to the office to continue with the project. I often have questions for my supervisor and other students to learn more about something or collaborate to solve a problem.” 🌍 A highlight of your experience abroad so far? “I am super excited for the opportunity to learn more about the different aspects of a commercial aircraft, what teams are doing through networking, and to see the manufacturing process. I got to attend a massive event where they offered tours of the manufacturing facilities here in Bremen!” 🌍 A word of advice for GT students applying to internships like yours? “It can be tough to figure out how to adjust to a new city and get all your paperwork in order but once you’re here, it’s amazing. I recommend asking around if students have a group chat or frequent meetup so you can have a source of social connection. Also shared apartments in Germany are the way to go, as I have met some very good friends through mine.” 💡 Students who receive offers to intern abroad often require extensive documentation to apply for visas and work permits in the host country. If you already received an offer to intern abroad, reach out to a GRIP advisor to register your internship with Georgia Tech’s Global Research and Internship Program and learn more about navigating this process. Beyond the Internship: Gen>NEXT Alumni at BMW #Postnumber3: More to come 👀 🌟 Meet Daniel McCraw 🌟 🔷 Daniel received his B.S. from Western Carolina University and is currently pursuing his MBA at Liberty University. A former Gen>NEXT alumni, Daniel completed three internships at BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC in Assembly and Body Shop. Today, Daniel is thriving as a full-time associate in the Body Shop, where he focuses on Financial and Strategic Production Planning. Daniel secured this role through BMW’s SpeedUp Program and by actively building connections across Plant10. 🔷 Reflecting on his experience as a Gen>NEXT Student, Daniel recalls, “Nothing about my intern experience was traditional—I do not come from an engineering background. I put myself in situations to grow. If you don’t understand something, go watch it. If you don’t know why something happens the way it does, ask questions. Listen to those around you and use the knowledge base available." 🔷 Daniel chose to stay at BMW because of the company’s commitment to innovation and investment in the next generation. He explains, “At BMW, you can control your destiny while enjoying the company’s stability.” 🔷 Daniel has two key pieces of advice for those who want to follow in his footsteps: 1️⃣ “Identify what you can realistically be the best at, align it with your passions, set clear career goals, and go for it.” 2️⃣ "You can have results or excuses. Not both. Work hard, but also smart. Manage your time wisely and distinguish between life’s unexpected challenges and excuses. Developing strong time management skills now will set you up for success.” Thank you, Daniel, for sharing your story and inspiring other Gen>NEXT Students! __________________________________________________________________________________ ◼ What is SpeedUp? ◼ SpeedUp is BMW's global talent program that offers 55+ hours of training and internal hiring status upon completion. #GenNEXT #CareerOpportunites #BMW #intern #coop #shareyourpassion #manufacturing
