On December 26, 2023, the Department of Defense (DoD) published its long-awaited Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Program proposed rule, which places comprehensive cybersecurity and information security requirements on DoD contractors and subcontractors. Currently, the DoD has leveraged several DFARS clauses and NIST SP 800-171 to implement enhanced cybersecurity, but it lacks a central tool to ensure compliance with these security requirements. Everyone has been waiting for this proposed rule for quite a while. This will be a phased rollout which will be incorporated into DoD contracts as early as Q1 2025. Now, get ready! Here are some highlights: https://rb.gy/b8drma #CMMC #dod #nist800171 #cyberdefense

Update: As of yesterday, Thursday August 15th, the proposed CMMC 2.0 rule has been moved forward in its process of approval and now will be open for public comment until October 15th 2024, which would put the rule in place by first quarter of 2025. CMMC or Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification has been long awaited in the defense industry as a way to protect CUI (Controlled Unclassified Information) and a true method to attest that your business meets the security standards to work with the Department of Defense. We are now in the final phases of CMMC becoming reality. It has been a long journey, but I do believe if you haven't already started to prepare that you should start now. Once CMMC is mandated, DOD contracts will only be awarded to companies that meet the standard. #CMMC #DOD #NIST #Security

Navigating the DoD Acquisition Lifecycle: The Critical Need for Trusted Foundries and Secure Supply Chains. #supplychain #risk #cradletograve #acquisitionlifecycle #trustedvendor In the complex world of the Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition lifecycle, the assurance of component and software integrity is paramount. The discontinuation of the official trusted foundry program opened many vulnerabilities and challenges. The trusted foundry program was integral in ensuring that the hardware and software components used in defense systems were not only reliable but also secure from tampering or infiltration by adversarial entities. The absence of a government-backed trusted foundry initiative might seem a daunting hurdle. However, it is essential to understand that the principles of a trusted foundry can be maintained without formal policy directives. This understanding brings us to the forefront of securing the DoD's technological backbone against the risks posed by sophisticated cyber threats and supply chain attacks. More to follow...
