In one of our studies, a 12-euro fashion ring was presented in three of our distinctive jewelry boxes. Here’s how different packaging influenced the estimated value: 💫 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰 (CANDY 118): Estimated at €95 💫 𝗠𝗶𝗱-𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 (ECCO 442): Estimated at €375 💫 𝗟𝘂𝘅𝘂𝗿𝘆 (PIANO 453): Estimated at €1,050 This study revealed how packaging can 𝗲𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲, with participants consistently valuing the ring far above its original price. The famous sneakers have an additional feature – their own #fragrance... I have to admit: I'm a real brand junkie when it comes to fashion. For me, it's all or nothing. Jeans – only REPLAY. Shirts – only Superdry. And when it comes to shoes, one ruler dominates the shoe cabinet – King Converse. But every now and then you have to try something new, I thought, and ordered my first Victoria Shoes... As soon as I unpacked them, I noticed that something smelled unusual. But who would expect sneakers to have their own #scent?... On the Victoria Shoes website, I learned that in the post-war period, car tires had to be recycled to make soles. Because the smell of the tires was so strong, a strawberry-flavored perfume was added to mask it. Since then, this smell has become part of the identity and a trademark in itself... The question is why, and why now? Has creativity died in the leathergoods ateliers? Are consumers simply tired of the next ridiculously expensive, inevitably soon to be obsolete handbag, that scarcely endures a full season? Or is it simply easier and less costly for brands to rely on icons of the past and dip into the archives? "What's old is new again!" In my opinion, it's all of the above. However, I also think that brands no longer have the time to wait for the growth that their investors demand and handbags are the cash cow for many.
