There is a lot of discussion around which approach and methodology to attention measurement is the best. On one side there is a school of vendors who use browser signals in a combination with research to fuel predictive measurement outcomes. On the other side we have companies who argue that human eye tracking delivers the best measurement for attention outcomes. It's almost as having two competing belief systems, seeking the same truth. Having worked in a data and research company for years and now leading Adnami who is also very active in the space of attention, I would honestly say that none of the models are perfect. I would also argue that perfection should not be the end goal either if that goal compromises on scale and putting that data effectively to use to drive real customer value. Reality is that both schools deliver a much better proxy for advertising effectiveness than impressions, CTRs and viewability have ever done. According to IAB's own research, attention is a 7x better proxy for predicting ad recall than viewability. With this in mind, I find it strange that many advanced advertisers today are still stuck in legacy models, where they optimize their media investments after viewable cpm. With Sonar we have created a predictive solution to accurately measure and optimize on attention outcomes. Automated workflows and easy access to data enables ourselves and our clients to easily convert insights in to customer outcomes. At the end of the day, in my humble opinion, that's all that matters.
