A recent study by the Reuters Institute at the University of Oxford outlines how social media landscape is increasingly splintering between different platforms, especially in terms of how people access news. Six networks now each reach at least 10% of respondents. YouTube leads the pack, with almost a third (31%) of their global sample using it for news weekly. WhatsApp follows, serving around a fifth (21%) of respondents. Notably, TikTok (13%) has surpassed X (former Twitter), which only reaches 10%.
